People's P4P king Sergio Martinez accepted Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's challenge or called Bob Arum's bluff if you like: Maravilla is without dancing partner due to none of the other MWs and even LMWs wanna share a ring with him at either weight, plus Zbik/Chavez Jr. hold his WBC belt hostage, so Martinez was happy to hear that the Mexican challenged him even only for media attention. Of course Zbik & Chavez fight for the same title Maravilla picked up by beating a cruiserweight Kelly Pavlik up on fight night, after which he even promoted the WBC brand in Mexico, only to get his title stripped - but they ****ed with the wrong Argentinean and he ready to beat the **** out of the hyped Mexican in front of his beloved Don Jose Sulaiman and Bob Arum. Of course Chavez has to beat Zbik first but come on, even if the German wins 8 rounds he ends up as the former paper champion.

It'a damn frustrating to see Martinez overcoming years of shady politics only to end up losing his belt via politics, so I hope accepting Jr's challenge will put Top Rank into the corner where they have no choice but to match the paper champ with the Real Deal. I like the idea of Sergio taking the Mexican's padded undefeated record and give politics yet another finger after all the **** he's been through. Of course everyone remembers him knocking Cintron out only to change the full 10 count to illegal headbutt and the **** to get the Williams rematch, not to speak about the Dzinziruk fight he was forced into because of the Bradley-Alexander deal I believe. Martinez is class act at it's finest, but he'll have plenty to show Chavez Jr. for going to Sulaiman instead of him for the world title opportunity.

    WAR MARAVILLA!

This won't happen unless Arum is absolutely convinced JCC Jr. has no shitty PPVs left to sell to nationalist idiots.

    He isn't.

Sorry Maravilla, this cash grabbing little nepotist **** won't be in the ring with you ever.

****....i give Sergio props for accepting the challenge even though JCC jr is not the best he's ever faced...but Sergio is actively trying to make the most of his options which seem to be limited since Floyd and manny don't want to square off with him.

JCC Jr. I have a LOT of respect for... Seeing him transform from being a ghost of his father's legacy to doing his best to carve out his own has left me thinking highly of the kid. He's got MASSIVE shoes to fill and he's going about it in the right way. He's working hard and doing what he's suppose to do to stay in peak shape all the while building confidence and sharpening those skills enough to call out someone like Sergio.

PROPS! JCC for call out Martinez and Martinez for accepting the challenge. I think JCC will lose but in the process show what he's made of. He's at the very begining of what could be anther stellar career of another Chavez.

Its kind of sad to see Sergio on this position! No one wants a piece of him. If I were him and still none of the big names (financialy wise) want to fight him atleast take on Paul Williams again or **** even Pirog for a payday. I wouldn't want Martinez ****ed up by money and inactivity.

    Pirog
    Paul Williams
Angulo (in Mexico) but I doubt HBO will accept the fight which is a problem since they are the ones paying
Felix Strum in Germany (same as above though)
Sergio Mora (a household name) sound good too to keep him active.
Marco Antonio Rubio, coming off a big win!

    Don't know.

his best option is cotto, he should target gaele next and wait for cotto to beat chavez jr, then target him for early 2012.

Fighters sometimes get a sense of "entitlement" if they win a couple of good fights. They then end up ****ing their careers b/c they are waiting on what they feel is what they deserve.

If they just stay active...fight who ever is available and make what is justified for that kind of opponent, then the bigger fights will come. We see too many times fighters don't do what Sergio is doing and they get put up on the shelf.

JCC is doing what he needs to do as well....he's already a name in Mexico and he could have continued to beat up on easy opposition south of the border but you see Jr looking like he's already a champion. He still has a lot of work to do but he's solid.. I think he can give sergio a meaningful fight that will test him.

I could be wrong.:D I like JCC Jr.

Chavez Jr. is only 25, he's still very much on a learning curve. Martinez at any point in the near future would be a disaster from what I've seen.
