And can someone confirm to me that he is fighting tomorrow night, isn't he? Honestly, it's a genuine question. Because in all of his recent interviews, I've hardly heard him mention Barker. He's been barking (no pun intended) the names of Pacquiao, Mayweather and Cotto, but nothing about his fight tomorrow. Shows you how highly he regards his opponent, doesn't it.

 

i thought he said Cotto and Margarito were no-hopers when they fought Pacquiao. Now he wants to fight them. This Martinez is a *****

I saw him on the scene say that "Cotto if you beat me, you can have my purse. It's not money I want, it's the glory"....So, wait a minute.. 1) Your purse would be extremely small, since you couldn't sell tickets on your own and don't have a fanbase, so I doubt Cotto would want it. 2) He says it's not for money...For Barker fight, he is getting $1.4 million and signed a contract extension with Dibella that makes him $1.8 million per fight then on, so OBVIOUSLY he wants even BIGGER MONEY....3) He says it's for glory....Well, no see winning the Middleweight Title was getting the glory...

The fact that he can't capitalize on that "glory" is his own deal. I have no doubt in my mind that on December 3rd, when you see Madison Square Garden rocking the roof off of that place....I have no doubt Martinez is going to try to show up there and he is going to see for himself what a ticket seller looks like...What he really wants is to piggyback on Cotto, Floyd or Pac success i.e. get their fanbases for himself. He thinks if he beats them, he automatically earns their fanbases. I think he'll find that each of these guys has their own fanbases and followings for certain reasons...Just because you beat "the man" doesn't mean you'll get to "be the man and get everything they have"....That's what Martinez THINKS would happen.

 

Calling out Cotto, Pac and Margo while making token gestures at Mayweather, huh?

Guess we'll be hearing Martinez jumped to Top Rank any day now.
