This is a fact, you can't refute this. Martinez's MW reign is a joke. The idea that some people refer to Martinez as an ATG is a joke. Martinez has been ducking and dodging real competition for YEARS now, fighting hand-picked no-hopers instead. Sergio really likes them plodder types. This character ducked Pirog to fight Dzinziruk instead - that really tells you what you need to know about Martinez's title reign right there.

Make no mistake, Martinez is responsible for the current duckathon in the MW division, he set the tone for it. He could have fought everyone by now, if he wanted to - instead we get Dzinziruk, Barker, Macklin, Murray.

The Cotto fight is an absolute disgrace and an insult to the sport and the fans. One of the worst matchups in recent memory. It would be that even if Martinez hadn't spent the last several years ducking and dodging real competition, but since he has, it's even worse. You hear some gibberish about Martinez wanting a payday. The WBC shouldn't sanction it. It shouldn't allow the title to be on the line. In fact, it should strip Martinez if he goes through with the fight.

Hes spent a career taking on everybody, including the who needs em fighters like PW

He strikes me as the sort of fighter who would rather go out on a gurney than be accused of being a coward

Williams moved up because Martinez was THE MW champ - just like Oscar and tito moved up to Hopkins

like I already said, until you stop confusing paper belt holders with real world champions, and claiming that their legitimacy is "fact" - which you only do to bolster flimsy resumes - then you won't evolve as a poster

You call someone the champ because of a magazine title rather than opposition.
While I agree martinez is the champ, he dosent have an overall resume greater than sturm.
Williams fought martinez as it was a rematch to a debateable fight they had previously and had something to gain.
Sturm did leave germany for a mw competition to unify the mw titles and many felt he was deserving of victory also which makes your views look more deluded is that martinez last fight wasn't in america
As sturms resume is equal to martinez overall, tell me how you view it as flimsy. His mw defences are greater than pavliks
