Sergio Martinez is a bad ass mother ****er but is not a natural middleweight. Hes pretty small for the division to be honest. He belongs at 154lbs. If everyone wants to act like Pacquiao legitimately won a title in the junior middleweight division then there should be NO PROBLEM with a Martinez/Pacquiao fight.

IMHO Its by far the best fight in boxing, 2 southpaws with great leg and hand speed. If you think it would be uncompetitive than you are highly mistaken. Pacquiao will definitely be able to rumble, whether he wins is a different story but Martinez will not blow Pacquiao out the way he just did to Williams. Yes he could KO and really hurt Pac, but it would be a big challenge. And lastly you have to understand that Pacquiao fighting Martinez is a win/win for his legacy. Even in defeat, the fact that he steps into the same ring with Martinez ups his legacy.

WHO cares if this is wishful thinking and Bob Arum would not risk Pacquiao with such a crazy fight right now. Its what should happen. If Pacquiao legitimately fought Martinez at 154lbs than that would be unbelievable. Pacquiao would be giving up 20 pounds at least on fight night, and it would be the true "GOAT Test" that Pacquiao could take.

If Pacquiao were to beat Martinez, he would obtain legitimate immortality in this sport. Pacquiao beating Martinez would mean just as much as him beating Mayweather at this point. I am probably more intrigued in a Pac/Martinez at this point than a pac/mayweather fight.

Also, Martinez outgrew the JMW division. Have you forgotten he weighed 176 lbs 30 days before the fight?

He "outgrew" it? That man can EASILY train down to 154lbs no fkn problem. Hes an incredible athlete and he was competing just fine at 154lbs when he was there. The sign of weight problems is a drop in performance in a division which forces an opponent up in weight.

That was NOT the case with Sergio Martinez, he moved up to make fights not because he was troubling making the weight division. He has no issues whatsoever making 154. This is fact.

There's more factors to a fight than weight. Pacquiao was more skilled than Margarito, faster, more powerful the only disadvantage he had was size. If Arum lets Pac take this fight I'm all for it.

He may not be a natural middleweight but he's a perfectly comfortable middleweight, and not undersized.

Pacquiao is an undersized (but effective) welterweight - and would be an itty bitty middleweight.

he is pretty natural at the weight and looks solid. If Pac wants his title he should have to fight a 160 pound Martinez.

Actually even Lou Dibella says martinez is small for MW which is why he would never consider moving to 168 to fight that is out of question.

So he will stay at 154 or 160...

Pac has title at 154 He should defend his title or else its just a fake title paper weight BS.

Having a longer training camp to make weight is not the end of a boxers life. It does not ruin a fighter it just takes him back to where he was when he was fighting guys like Cintron. Again, Martinez didn't move up because of weight issues. He moved up because he couldn't get a damn fight with the likes of *** Angulo etc

Martinez was performing amazing at 154lbs. He has simply filled up a bit into 160lbs, but he can burn that off.

War Pac, go for 155 lbs for Martinez belts. It would further cement your ATG status if you somehow win this fight. You will be right in there with Pep and Robinson as the GOAT. Just imagine a 9 weight world championship, that is insane.

Pretty much just chery picked him, but he was marketable to be a hard fight for PAC just because of the size difference the MASSES ate it up and believed all that hype.
