Sergio Martinez is over rated, and full of ****

I agree somewhat.

I dont see how people can possibly rate Martinez above guys like JMM. Martinez hasnt done nearly enough to warrant that position. There is PLENTY of big fights to be had at 154 that could boost his legacy

I have been saying this for awhile. But people defend this guy because they think he can beat Manny and Floyd and well he should be able to because he is so much damn bigger.

Because they're not rating his legacy higher. I think when he was placed there he had just way outclassed a Pavlik before anyone knew of his alcohol issues, and then destroyed Williams in two and Marquez had just had a so-so fight where he beat a guy he already destroyed and then Katsidis and was thought to have slipped a fair enough amount as Martinez was heating up. It was based on where they were perceived to be at, at the time, not whose legacy is better. Like all CURRENT top p4p lists. ... If those ratings were about which active guys had the better legacy, it'd be a ****ed up list of ****ing Holyfield and Jones over guys like Donaire and Marquez.

 

:huh But, he really doesn't need to do that at all, and he also already is fighting those guys. He's scheduled to fight a ring-ranked top name middleweight in his next fight and is coming off of the undefeated European middleweight champ.

I agree. He has great talent but hasn't done nearly enough to be called one of the top 10 p4p.

He needs to stop ducking Pirog and Golovkin. Those two guys are the best middleweights.

 

That is true but 2011 has been fairer to Marquez than Martinez. Martinez's wins over Barker and Dzinziruk are not as eye catching as Marquez's performance over Pacquiao
Had Marquez been awarded the win he rightfully deserved then we wouldnt be having this conversation

i agree with alot of what you say mate.
i dont think he deserves his high slot in the p4p ranks.
i think if lower weight fighters want to prove their greatness and move up then it is up to them to call him out. if that happens then fine, he would be an idiot to turn down the paydays.
but in the meantime he should be seeking out the best of his immediate peers or if he wants to prove his greatness then chase the guys at 168lbs.
