Sergio Martinez: "It'd be an honor to fight Mayweather", willing to take tests

Now that Kelly Pavlik decided not to have another try vs. Sergio Martinez at 160lbs, Maravilla and his team can finally look around for future possibilities. Martinez recently received a few more weeks from the WBC to decide which championship to vacate, so both 154 and 160lbs challengers are welcome.

Of all fighters available, Maravilla named a list of three he'd fight the most. He said it would be an honor to fight Mayweather, if not Floyd, then the Margarito or Williams rematch in that order. Mayweather did mention Martinez' name and it'd be a huge showdown if the PacMan megafight doesn't get made, and looking at Floyd pushing Mosley around it seems he's much bigger than Pac, so I'd prefer this fight instead. "Money" would dictate the terms obviously but Martinez doesn't have a problem taking the tests up until the day of the fight.

Margarito recently returned and Maravilla wants to avange that early career loss just 5 years into his entire boxing experience. Tony broke him down and stopped him in 7, but much has changed since 2000. Williams of course is coming from another highly questionable win over Cintron many felt he should've never received, just like the 12 rounder vs. Martinez, in which one judge disgracefully had him winning 11 rounds to 1. Our polls have Maravilla winning. But of course now that Sergio holds the titles, it's just as important - if not more - to Paul to get a decisive victory over Martinez, especially now that Pavlik moved up.

Who would you prefer and at what weght for Sergio Maravilla Martinez?

If Floyd beat Sergio, man you can't argue at that point. Maybe GOAT.

Would love to see this fight.

Get the **** out of here martinez, now pavlik don't want none mayweather top choice again? It don't work like that. No one wants to see that fight yet. We gearing up for the p4p number 1a to fight the p4p number1b to see who the real number 1 is.

    I like that 1a and 1b **** for p4p.

    I don't think in history we've ever had a 1a and 1b.

I want to see this fight, more than the pacquiao fight.....If martinez can't beat floyd, nobody from 147-154 can beat him....This fight however, would take place at 160 for the lineal title, no way martinez is fighting at any other weight, aslong as he has the lineal MW strap...

    I'm a firm believer floyd-pac is a mismatch, in floyd's favor....Bring on Martinez-Floyd...

He'll probably rematch Williams now, the fight he "lost" the last time.

If Floyd fought and beat Martinez at middleweight then Mayweather is clearly the number 1 p4p best in the world.

He could never surpass guys with 100 fights ala Robinson but being the lineal and undesputed MW king would go a long way. Fight Pac first, let Williams and Martinez sort it out at Jr. Middle or Middle

This is probably the only difficult 'boxing' match for Floyd that's out there.

I hope Floyd doesn't go up too much in weight to fight Martinez. That would give pacquiao a chance to use his old weight draining tactic in case he's still around and wants a fight after $'s victory.

Floyd is Martinez's numero uno. Let's get it done. I'd rather see this than Pac-May anyway.

Martinez has a great warrior mentality!

Would love to seen Martinez defend his middleweight belt against Mayweather. Does Money have the balls to take the fight?

If Mayweather punks out, I would like to see Martinez avenge his "losses" to Margarito and Williams.
