During his fighting career mentally he was very strong (keep calling out Mayweather and Pacquiao, destroying JCC Jr./Cotto during HBO face off), but in this interview basically he admits that Golovkin now is a better figgter then him, that's why he didn't fight with him, and makes no excuses about the Cotto loss.

Yes he is, at least right up at the top, Because if any man had a legit excuse for a loss, he did.

His caliber was a touch overrated by many fans during his championship run, and I wasn't head over heels for him as a stylist, but he was a fine champion. Fine in as much as he conducted himself impeccably and was a great representative for the sport throughout his middleweight reign. He brought tremendous heart and industry to the ring, too, which made him good to watch regardless of my lack of personal preference for his style (which was not slick, despite claims to the contrary, although that's not the basis of my reservations about it).

I thought he was one of the bigger duckers out there in recent memory in terms of top level fighters. A middleweight having no problem fighting 154 pounders, and guys that weren't even ranked a few weeks out from the fight, but refuses to fight Pirog, or Golovkin when both wanted to fight him and where available. Money wasn't the issue. He would have gotten no less to fight either guy, than he got to fight Barker, Macklin, Dzinziruk etc.

Manny Pacquiao has demonstrated much greater class.

Back then GGG was a not a big name fighter who brought in a lot of money. The thing is GGG during his prime was a complete monster. I can't remember the last time there was a guy in any weight class who had that type of pressure and chin. I guess you'd have to go back to Margarito, but he was far less schooled and powerful than GGG. Martinez doesn't stand much a chance against that, even as talented as he was. He was just gonna get a beatdown. And I'm a bigger fan of Martinez than GGG.

I have a lot of respect for a guy being so honest.
