Firstly I said on paper, I rated martinez highly anyway.

The fact he was coming of a loss which was a war is only beneficial to team pavlik, he's also much smaller than kelly and older - hardly madness. If you were pavlik's matchmaker who would you choose? A guy coming down from the division above who has already won a middleweight belt or someone coming up who a definitive victory over would get at paul williams and force the negotiations for that fight to be in his favour.

If you honestly think that they chose Martinez because he is less of a risk than Mundine, you need your head looked at.

Who would I choose? I'd choose Martinez, because he brings a lot more money to the table.

As good as he is, he is not a money man - he is no superstar in argentina although he has more fans in spain. He wouldn't have been a ppv guy prior to the williams fight. Martinez is a huge risk to anyone he fights because he's a great awkward boxer. Don't make the mistake that because of last night's performance from martinez that Pavlik thought he was taking a gamble.

I think mundine is a greater risk than martinez for a number of reasons. But you seem to be taking my initial comment out of it's context.

He's a money man because he is known by American fans. In a threadbare Middleweight division, Pavlik had Williams and Martinez to choose from. That's it. And believe me, Martinez has a strong following in Argentina, I've just come home from there. After Kelly defending his strap against the likes of Lockett, Rubio and Espino I'm sure HBO and probably Pavlik himself wanted a tough outing.

How have I taken this out of context:

Anthony brings nothing to the table that Martinez hasn't got covered.

Poor 20anus87........ Such a dope to imagine Mandy is any kind of real risk to any kind of real fighter.

Puberty must be such a confusing time for this twat.

My initial comment was that on paper martinez was a lesser risk which he is: old, coming off a war, 154lbs by trade, most notable for a loss etc

No doubt HBO pushed for pavlik to fight martinez as it builds a ppv showdown for pavlik vs williams quite nicely or a martinez vs williams rematch. On paper martinez is lower risk with a higher reward in terms of getting the upper hand with paul williams. As far as your own foray into argentina i'd have to take your word but an argentinian poster has said he's not v.popular and when you consider that none of his own title defences have been in argentina it musn't make financial sense.

In comparison you have choc who is largely unknown but brings the australian market to the table and was in a huge spectacle in the green fight so he obviously makes money. In boxing terms he is high risk and low reward because he's slick, can fight etc but if pavlik beats him it gets him nothing in terms of plaudits or negotiations with williams.

Yeah mundine is rubbish :roll::roll: It's not like the old days. :patsch
