Nope. He always was a shuffler, and never did much of his work en pointe.

I agree, he does seem like a shuffler.

    That's because you're a brainless troll.

The Cotto bout will have the same effect on Sergio's legacy as the Holmes fight on Ali's, the Norris fight on SRL's, the Mc Bride fight on Tyson's etc.....

Kind of funny in a small world kind of way how both of his "don't read much into them" losses bookending his career were against Margarito & Cotto, two intense rivals that fought 1-1.

...and his only blemishes otherwise are the Williams robbery MD (someone that fought on even terms w/ Margarito, and was touted as potentially a Cotto opponent for ages) and the Cintron robbery draw (someone that Margarito owned twice over, and with his name often paired with Cotto's as the preeminent welters from PR of the post-Tito era)

Crazy what a small world it really is, especially when you consider that all five of those men campaigned across four weight divisions over the course of a decade - with Cotto starting @ 140lb and finishing up now @ 160lbs with pit stops in the couple of divisions in between (147lb & 154lb - where Margarito, Williams, Cintron & Martinez all spent the enormous bulk of their careers)

Four weight classes, that long a span of time - and we get that much incestuous and overlapping interweave between just 4-5 guys, with their careers all largely defined by said interconnectivity?

Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Duran & Benitez they aren't, just in terms of quality, obviously - but when since then have we seen anything like this?

His legacy is intact, how many great fighters lost various bouts at the end of a long distinguished career that didn't affect there legacy? The hate is strong with you.
    BTW
Why do people keep referring to Cotto as a WW?

My introduction to Maravilla, for some strange reason I always was interested in a Martinez-Mayweather fight.

    :thumbsup

Exactly how I'd describe it. (especially since none of the Modern five, even on their best night and the respective elder generation's representative's worst, could beat any of the Classic 5)

Hang on, let me fact-check that statement...

Margarito vs. Hearns/Leonard/Duran/Hagler/Benitez - yep, loses to all five.
Cotto vs. Hearns/Leonard/Duran/Hagler/Benitez - yep, loses to all five.
Williams vs. Hearns/Leonard/Duran/Hagler/Benitez - yep, loses to all five.
Martinez vs. Hearns/Leonard/Duran/Hagler/Benitez - yep, loses to all five.
Cintron vs. Hearns/Leonard/Duran/Hagler/Benitez - yep, loses to all five.

Zero hesitation, no second guessing. :conf

Like, part of me is tempted just to play devil's advocate in a few of those match-ups, because there might be some mitigating factors in terms of styles and physical attributes favoring the Modern here and there - but gun to my head, in all 25, Classic guy wins.
