whats asinine is thinking that anyone wants to see jr/Sergio after chavez was shut out 11 rounds to one. if Sergio wins it is because he was supposed to as he already beat jr., convincingly. how does a promoter sell this fight? one guy outlands the other by twice as many shots and throws three times as many? a promoter can put together a former champ versus a future champ-type scenario and sell ggg/Sergio...which would be ppv where all the revenue is at if you knew anything about the fight game(25mm ppv/3 mm live gate Sergio/chavez). is anybody really going to pay to see chavez/Sergio 2 ppv? because I guarantee people will pay to see Sergio/ggg especially next year after showtime continues to headline him on free tv.

ggg kos another opponent on free showtime in ocotber and then you have a ppv event in time for march when Sergio has fully recovered.

to think that Sergio wants to fight jr for far less money than he will get for golovkin is pretty stupid unless hes ducking ggg.

imo, Sergio knows that he has maybe one last fight left in him and hes going to make the most amount of money in said fight.

after gg knock out another name fighter in October Sergio/ggg is ppv in march.

how in the world does a promoter ppv chavez/Sergio when Martinez outlanded jr by twice as many punches and threw three times as many punches?

    what would be the title?

    how faded is sergio?

whereas you would sell ggg/Sergio as past versus future.

I don't know what promoter would think that chavez jr/Sergio 2 would outsell Sergio/ggg.

    one is ppv.

    one is not.

Boxing fans buy Martinez vs Golovkin.

However, PPV sales are all about marketing to the casual fan and the casual fan has yet to here or know WTF is Golovkin.

Chavez vs Martinez sells near 1 million and its the highlights from the 12th round that will be advertised and promoted for casuals to buy the rematch. They'll eat it up because they dont know boxing.

Martinez vs Golovkin is a non-ppv fight simply because it would bomb in sales.
I doubt seriously it would sell even 150k.

Its a no-brainer for Martinez if he can get Chavez to fight at 160 lbs.

It's insane to think that Martinez-Golovkin is a PPV fight within a year and it's even crazier to believe that it outsells Chavez vs. either of them or that Martinez would somehow make more money against Golovkin.

Yeah, 'cause he never fought anyone. Martinez is a hype job. The sooner he fights someone decent at weight it will be exposed.

WTF are you talking about? :patsch

GGG vs Martinez will NEVER be PPV and this is coming from a Martinez fan! They don't have the following to make it a PPV event, simple as that.

And to say that Sergio will make less money by fighting Chavez Jr than GGG is just plain laughable. Chavez Jr is THE CASHCOW at MW and will continue to be so once he moves to SMW too. (Waaaayyy more marketable than Ward at SMW!)

Here is a better example...Matthysse vs Garcia is a fight which is considered as BIG as Martinez vs GGG (considering what is on the line) but not even Lucas and Danny can hold a PPV event. It is just not possible, muchless will Martinez/GGG. Another example is Nonito vs Rigo, was that PPV? Yet it was for the lineal championship and we can also throw the following Nonito has which is much bigger than Martinez/GGG combined. Sh.i.t. you have Khan who has a huge following and he still hasn't put up a PPV event. And you want GGG vs Martinez as a PPV?

Don't get me wrong, I want the fight, but no way in hell would it ever make to PPV. The only obstacles from having GGG vs Martinez will be Cotto or a Chavez JR rematch, other than that I think HBO has this fight in the BAG. (forget Mayweather and Canelo, they are with GBP/Showtime)

youre comparing Garcia or mathhysse to Sergio Martinez, two of whom have never headlined a ppv event?

to Sergio who headlined the ppv chavez fight?

and whats with the flagrant use of emoticons? I thought only women or high school kids used those?

your example of rigo/donaire is irrelevant as there are more ppv attractions at the higher weights(presumably because people cannot draw a direct connotation between themselves and a guy that weighs 120-130 pounds. dana white has expressed this opinion on ufc).

tell me how cotto/mayorga and mosley/mora went ppv and Sergio/ggg cannot after golovkin kos another name fighter on free showtime(hes already a headliner with ko power that the public loves)?

I can do some of those childish emoticons but im an adult.

well since im the kind of guy that doesn't talk out of my mouth but out of my wallet how about we do a little bet for $100.00 that Sergio/ggg goes ppv because I truly believe Sergio is going to take this fight( there is absolutely zero public interest for Sergio/chavez 2).

I can take visa/mc, neteller, paypal, chase quick pay.

by the way, how many more ppv headline events has your self-proclaimed "cash cow" chavez had over Sergio?

    one.

now take the bet or shut your mouth.

    cotto/mayoraga did 200k buys.

the only way Sergio fights chavez is because hes ducking ggg.

and to anyone that follows boxing Sergio Martinez doesn't duck boxers.

as for your 1mm buys for chavez/Sergio rematch?

well the first fight did 475k buys so you think that the sequel is going to do more than double?

    oh.

    okay.

lifetime esb ban bet that chavez/Sergio 2 doesn't do 1mm ppv buys.

    yeah.

    that's what I thought.

Biggest thing I noticed about the Golovkin V Macklin Fight was Macklin looked like He had been hit by a truck His face was pretty cut up and that was after facing less than 3 rounds with Golovkin,Love or Hate Golovkin Blind Freddie can see he is the Heir Apparent of Martinez and deep down even Sergio knows it.!!!!!

Sergio Martinez beats GGG. Sorry to spoil the party but hyping GGG on this forum won't change the fact the GGG is a skinny punk with overrated punching power.

I really like Martinez, Void refused to fight Martinez even at 154 or 150! Void is afraid of Martinez, but Golovkin will knock Martinez out. Golovkin has speed, huge amateur background, punches extremely hard and has a fantastic defense. He knows how to set his opponents up.

I never said it would do 1 million buys, I said it would near it.

......and what does Cotto-Mayorga have to do with this thread?

Again, Casual fans have never heard of Golovkin, thus HBO knows it would not make sense to match him with Martinez PPV. Everyone on this thread but you knows this.
