Why isn't there any talk about Cotto-Martinez at 154?

I don't think DLH was drained.. I just think he gave up...PAC took his heart and it was the first time that DLH couldn't adjust or adapt to the fighter he was facing.

Now....It wasn't a prime DLH! I know that, you know that. But to give DLH a pass for quiting and for getting beat up, that's what DLH wanted. In actuality PAC was simply a better man that night.

Even at 154 a year earlier where DLH lost in a split Decision against Floyd, Oscar wasn't in his Prime.

Same thing different day I see... How much did Margo weigh on fight night? How much more do you think Sergio will way on fight night? Who cares if he can't make 150, didn't all of you pac fans say weigh in weight doesn't matter and only fight night weight?!? Isn't that why it's fine for Pac to drag Marquez up to a weight he DIDN'T do well at, bcuz Pac would still be around the same size.... Even though it's a crime to have Pac come up to a weight he WON A TITLE AT and did perfectly fine with Margo... So you think Sergio will be THAT much bigger than Margo on fight night? No...

Pac won't fight Martinez bcuz he isn't a slow ****er, old man or someone who's looked terrible in their past few bouts.

    No!!!

Being on weight 3 weeks prior to a fight tells you that he is not drained.

Drained fighters are 10-20 pounds over the weight limit 1-2 days before the fight, and then suddenly make weight during the weigh-in.

However, Oscar lost weight insensibly. Any person with medical background would tell you that the order by which your body losses weight in terms of acuteness (rapidness) are in this order :

    1. Water
    2. Fat
    3. Protein (muscle)

Water loss is very temporary. Meaning that you don't drink water for 24 hours, or eat, you lose weight.

This is where fighters drain themselves. They loss so much water that they end up dehydrated and weak, then regain it immediately after drinking and bingeing after the weigh-in. Unfortunatley, sometimes it backfires because you won't recover from the dehydration and you lose your strength and speed in the process.

That is technically a DRAINED fighter.

    This content is protected

However, fighters who have still a considerable body fat, example hatton in between fights, or Roberto Duran, go on diet and lose their body fat and then reach a certain weight near the weigh-in (which is still above the weigh-in weight) then limit their fluid and make the wiegh-in.

Fighters however who are considerably on the low side of body fat, like ODLH, when they go on calorie restricted diet, sacrifice their muscle mass.

3 weeks before the fight, Hoya was already at 150 tells you something. You can not rehydrate fighters who are never dehydrated in the first place otherwise, it would kill them by fluid overload.

The fact supports this. Hoya did not gain much weight after weigh-in even though they tried IV fluids. It woukld never work. Putting IV fluids on a person not fluid-deprived would kill him. The maximum that you could give is probably 2 - 3 liters or roughly 2-3 kilograms, which was what Hoya's esimated wieght gain.

Contrast that to a fighter who is actually drained. Example, Gatti in the Gamache fight. That is a drained fighter, who gained benefit from it.

Being drained could backfire or beneficial.

"size isn't the problem, it's just that Martinez is a skilled fighter so Pac is ducking him"

I'd say JMM is more skilled

Sergio just barking knowing Pac will accept any challenge. Hes hoping the public gets behind him and asks Pac, Pac will accept. Although Pac's stance on no higher than 150 seems to be firm though. Who knows, maybe a year or two from now when Pac's body has grown into a full blown welter meaning he weighs in at 147 and comes in around 152+, then he might consider 154.

Nice one keeping himself in the dialogue.

Sergio is a good challenge for both fighters.

A heavy handed southpaw with that sort of size and close to his prime is no easy work for Floyd.
