Promoter Lou DiBella has advised BoxScene that he made a serious offer to Golden Boy Promotions for a catch-weight bout between WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and former two division champion Shane Mosley. Martinez is willing to defend his title against Mosley at the lowest possible catch-weight, 155-pounds. There appears to be no issue with Mosley receiving a bigger percentage of the money...................Not a great style matchup for mosley at this stage of his career:

don't see mosley taking this.... its pointless... he hasn't seen very much success at 154.... fighting the 160 champ at 155 is kind of pointless I think...

if shane was smart he'd get that rematch with cotto...

Mosley would knock Martinez out, not a smart move at all.

Shane isn't proposing the catchweight the actual titleholder is proposing it. I guess he thinks Shane is a quick big payday. I believe he is wrong, Shane looked the way he did because Floyd is so good, Martinez doesn't have the boxing skills to do to Shane what Floyd did and he gets hit way too much.

If he allows Martinez to circle and flurry, then it' will be a long night for SUGAR MAN.

I wonder how Martinez handles Shane's pressure and power, Shane can still bang in the 150s, don't forget the Mayorga KO.

martinez is grasping at straws for someone to fight him, why not keep the 154 lb title if he was just going to challenge ssm? dont see how shane can get this w if he accepts. shane should face cotto first then maybe winner v martinez.

This is actually a good match up age, height, and style wise. Both men don't seem to have a better option right now so why not?

Martinez could fight P-Will if he wanted, P-Will already threw the challenge out and said all Sergio has to do is call, but he wants to take an easy big money fight before he fights P-Will because I think he knows he will lose.

The bad thing is Mosley would definitely provide a harder fight for Sergio than Kelly. Also it isn't like Sergio is a spring chicken he is 35 himself.

Shane shouldn't fight at all. Guy can't move anymore and his best fight was against Margarito. Margarito maybe more limited than Shane movement wise.

Shane has one more fight left, I would keep him away from Paul Williams, but he could definitely beat a lot of 154 title holders and if he has a shot at the lineal MW championship then he should definitely take it.

I'm probably going to get blasted for this but I think if this fight happens they should do random drug testing again. There's always that possibility that Shane will take the EPO again.

Martinez: "Wow, I'm lineal middleweight champion, like Bernard Hopkins and Jermaine Taylor, now to just see what those guys did to build their reputations and copy that.......hmm, fight welterweights?........ok...."
