    Intriguing but pointless.

Especially for Martinez. If he wins, he beats an older, smaller fighter. If he loses, he gets beaten by an older, smaller fighter.

Shane's best bet is a "victory lap" with established fighters or a gatekeeper for profitable, up and comers. Heck, I wouldn't even be mad at him if he took a 3rd fight with Oscar at this point.

I would enjoy a fight against Judah, too.

I hear what your saying but I think Mosley would beat the **** out of Miguel Espino. Not every fight has to be against the very best available opponent for it to still be a relevant/acceptable fight. There are not many compelling fighters at 160 right now.

I would watch it. I just don't care for any catch weight nonsense.

When Pavlik came on in the middle rounds before the big cut opened up, he was starting to break Sergio down and it looked like he would be on the way out.

The way I see it all that lunging and leaping **** would get his ass KO'd by Mosley the same way Mayorga was.

You're right with all 3 of your points, but it's kind of a superficial view. Pavlik fought Espino because he was told to fight or be stripped. He needed to fight a ranked guy that he could beat with one good hand after a 5 week camp. Martinez is not operating under those kind of circumstances. Sergio has two entire divisions to pick from, and he chose a worn out welterweight.

Not every fight has to be a tough fight, but Martinez claims to be the middleweight champion of the world. Is it fair for true middleweights who would jump at a title shot to sit on the sidelines while Martinez fights a welter who is 2-2 in his last 4 fights?

And no -- there aren't many compelling fights at 160. So why did Martinez choose to stay at middleweight when 154 is a much stronger division?

In a sense I'm glad he stayed at 160. It's the only division in all of boxing where there is a direct, and easily tracable, lineage between the champ, and all 4 major titles. I'm glad Sergio kept that intact, but Mosely is a **** poor choice of opponents.

there's nothing wrong with catchweight fights they've been happening forever, you pretend not to like catchweight so you can hate on pacquiao.

no way mosley can go up to 160 and martinez wants to stay there so i see nothing wrong with meeting in the middle.

why isn't a guy allowed to fight 2 weight classes below his weight? ODLH and Mayweather did it.
