    Damn... April?

Given his bi-annual fight pattern, so his next real challenge would be 1 year from now? meh....

They're targeting the Chavez rematch for Mexican Independence Day weekend again.

Macklin was more than a mere tune-up. Quillin is probably fighting Taylor. Pirog is probably on the shelf with the back injury until March.

Nice fight against a legit top-ten middleweight in his home country. I'm glad for him that he gets to go back after all this time (glad for him if he wins there, anyway).

no one knew who macklin was then
pirog is a gimp and non factor, the guy gets hurt by not fighting
    quillen probably will - ?

truth is no one on this planet gives a crap about martinez vs martin murray.
if he fought 3 times a year, ok... but he fights 2 times a year and will burn one fight again a who gives a ****. and maybe 1 year from now in nov, we can hope he fights someone the world wants to see because the guy is a star at this point and not much time left to be wasting it on **** fights

Then the same applies to every other middleweight at that time save Chavez and Sturm.

You'll recall that both Geale and Quillin have already turned down fights with Martinez, so blaming him alone for his recent opponents is nonsensical.

  9. Fine with me. Though an April date is kind of a kick in the nuts.

Macklin arguably beat Sturm in the fight before the Martinez fight.

4 other guys with belts with sergio being the ring champ
we get stuck with sergio vs macklin
not including interim champs WBA and super champs like sturm, throw in a wbo interim champ then you have Macklin being ranked actually #9 at the highest by default with 8 belts of the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO
maybe that makes you happy where the champion seems to always fight anyone other than the guys that hold 8 different belts.
and you are happy with Macklin fight? what a true fan you are

    :-(

If you're this annoyed about how many belts there are, why give them even more credence by insisting that every beltholder should be seen as ranked above all non-beltholders?
