at this time, these were the champions. calling Martin and Macklin a legit top 10 guy is pretty funny when you have 8 guys in front of them by default . considering a guy with a belt is usually held to a higher standard, the #1 guy like sergio fighting a Martin Murray is might be a "ok fight" but its also a who gives a **** fight, anyone who thinks other wise needs to take a look at the picture below and see why

because 99% of the public see a guy with a belt as being better than one who does not. its a "world title" supposedly

do i think Martin Murray is better than anyone that has a belt right now? um no

this aint bitching, this is being sick of the great fighters of this era seldom fighting each other. i guess everyone is satisfied we got sturm vs geale and chavez vs martinez. enough to satisfy everyone for a few more years

This is utterly simplistic thinking. You recognize how absurd the sanctioning bodies are today, yet you also want to insist they still have the final word in determining who's the best in the division?

Since you think only Martinez has the obligation of fighting every single champion take a look at that picture and tell me how many champions have faced each other?

    I'll help you;

    Martinez vs Chavez Jr
    Sturm vs Gaele
    And thats it!

By that logic,Mallignaggi is a better boxer than Pacquiao because Mallignaggi has a belt and Pacquiao doesnt...

Its 2012, belts mean jack ****.

Hope Murray get's out of there alive. Murray dare not even think of beating Sergio there.

Sergio probably could beat him on a gimp leg though.

Martin Murray is not an easy fight at all, he is a very good B level fighter and imo beat Sturm

Since he's coming back from an injury I don't see Murray as too bad of an opponent. Most have him in the bottom of the top 10 and think he beat Sturm, so he's acceptable for a post injury fight.

The problem I have is that Martinez seems to be locked into Murray in April and Chavez in September. I'm not dying for a rematch but I don't mind one either but it shouldn't come before one of the other top rated guys like Golovkin, Geale, Quillen, or Pirog get a shot.

I'm not sure what Pirog's up to but the other 3 seem to have fights lined up for early 2013. That means they should get two major fights in between now and next fall which would make them much more deserving of a fight than a Chavez rematch.

Most who had Murray beating Sturm never saw that fight. That was a make up decision for Macklin, which was a genuine gift for Sturm.

So what was the highlight of his career before Sturm? Getting carried out on a stretcher against Moore? Before Sturm, even the British forum posters didn't think he was very good.

Not a bum but certainly nothing special or close to top level

If Murray troubles Sergio in any way, then expect Maravilla to fight nothing but random bums in Argentina for the rest of his career a la Chris John. He can do it now that he's a draw thanks to Chavez.
