it will be 12 or 13 months since his last fight before he makes a defense.
    f u c k i n g BORING.......

WBC middleweight world champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez has said that he is looking to defend his title next year in Argentina. “There is nothing definite yet, but I will return in April or May of 2014 and that this opportunity is in Argentina,” Martinez said during a press conference in Madrid, where he demonstrated support for the city’s bid for the 2020 Olympics. One source has indicated that Martinez is seeking to resolve in a short time some personal and sports situations. When he returns, Martinez is expected to go directly into a big fight with no tune-ups.

The TS does mention that he's joking...

However, injuries is injuries, Sergio would be stupid, 'specially at his age and in the twilight of his career, to climb back into the ring 'til he's fully healed.

I would expect a tune-up fight around March or so, then a retirement fight later in the year. I, like many others, would love to see the GGG fight made, with the lineal title at stake, but at the end of the day Maravilla's gonna go with the biggest payday which could be at 154.

I'm hoping that HBO's willing to throw a lot of $s at getting Gena the lineal shot, given their investment in him, but we'll just have to wait and see.

DiBella has already stated that he's not putting Martinez in with GGG in his first fight back, so if that fight actually happens it'll probably be next summer at the earliest.
