I'm not saying its enough to make the difference in the fight, but this is true. Abraham wouldn't be at such a disadvantage in dimensions, and could probably land more punches due to this.
Very intruiging match up actually. Maravilla by UD, but i wouldnt be suprised if AA KOs Sergio, its very possible if he lands one of his bombs on him.
aa has problems with tall fighters who have good reach and good power. maravilla is just better then average everywhere. but he is smaller then aa, has a short reach and not enough power to make aa cautios. SO AA BY KNOCKOUT
I can see Abraham catching Martinez since Sergio relies on sneaking shots in combination on the inside often despite his reach, and hurting him...but as others have said, in the end Martinez would outbox him and do damage.
aa by brutal ko, he got outmuscled by froch, dirrell has pop in his punches but aa caught up with him and clipped him. sergio doesnt have the power of abraham who is pretty freakishly strong
Wasn't AA suppose to go to Middleweight? It would be an intersting fight if it happens, that is for sure. As for the winner, its a toss up.
I'm a Martinez fan (and an AA fan too). AA by brutal KO. There's some small chance that Sergio could avoid him and take a decision. Those who suggested that Sergio would stop him need to follow some other sport.
Abraham would stop Martinez. As much as I like Martinez, he is a natural 154lber and Abraham has knockout power at 168lbs. That's fine, if you don't get hit, but Martinez doesn't have the best defense you'll ever see and is happy to trade punches. Against guys like Williams, Cintron and Pavlik, not light hitters, that's fine. Against Abraham, it's another story. Abraham KO10. Probably well behind on the cards.
I think stamina would come into as well. A lot of people, mostly Pavlik fans, have talked a lot about how Pavlik took over in the middle rounds but I don't think that was him taking over, mostly Martinez taking his foot off the gas. If you look at his fights against Cintron and Williams, he certainly slowed down at different parts because I don't think he has the best stamina. It's a flaw in his game and I think it'd cost him against Abraham. As Abraham starts so slow, Martinez would punch away, wasting a lot of stamina hitting his arms and body, which is rock solid, and Martinez, a light hitter, wouldn't be able to slow him down there. Abraham would start fighting in the 5th onwards, so Martinez wouldn't be able to take the middle rounds off like he did against Pavlik because taking rounds off against Abraham is very dangerous. Going into the late rounds, Martinez would probably be pretty low on stamina and sluggish. Abraham is a very strong finisher. You have to consider as well that when Martinez fights, as in trading punches, he does get hit a lot. It'd mean Abraham having to trade but, unlike against Froch or even Dirrell, he has nothing to worry about. He can trade with Martinez freely and not worry about the consequences. This has a late KO written all over it.
