I like Brian Rose, so happy to see him get a fight against a big name (even if it is against the ghost of Martinez), and hopefully a decent pay day.
I just saw this on instagram and came on here to see if anyone else had seen. Very weird fight. Martinez has looked slow since coming back, he clearly still has skills but he’s very slow compared to where he was 8 years ago (understandably) and doesn’t seem to have any elusiveness anymore. I didn’t see Brian’s last comeback fight, so not sure where he’s at, but he had a decent effort against Fowler without ever looking like winning. It’ll be a shame though if Brian Rose can boast he beat one of the best middleweights of the past 15/20 years.
Be surprised if Martinez could even make it through a full camp with all the injury problems he's had. Body must be pretty broken down.
https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/...d-to-honour-brian-london-in-blackpool-3309854 Well this came out of absolute nowhere ! Martinez knees are shot to bits, the last time I seen him in a ring he looked very much on his way out.... so will only be worse now. Superb career and brilliant fighter but I'd like to see him stay away. With regards to Brian though, what an opportunity for him to fight a huge name..... don't blame him for jumping at the opportunity. Good luck to him.
I dread to think what a prime Martinez would have done to Cotto. It would have been a pretty one-sided battering in my humble opinion. Cotto had a smoke and mirrors reign at MW, although it made him plenty of dollar so can't really knock him for that.
