The Martinez from the Chavez Jr fight vs Canelo from the Chavez Jr fight who wins? And which version of Chavez Jr was better, Martinez fight or Canelo fight? Discuss
i made that post right after the murray fight. i knew sergio was done and it had nothing to do with his broken wheel. i guess cotto was the only one who saw what i saw. canelo ko's that sergio.
I don't think there is a doubt that the Chavez jr from the Martinez fight is more motivated on fight night and better. As to who will win, Martinez from that night versus Canelo, I think it's 50-50 and I'm leaning towards Martinez to outbox the flat footed Canelo.
I guess I just don't think very highly of the carrot top lol. I like Canelo, but I never thought of him as upper echelon p4p fighter.
Chavez ! ! Martinez had no knees vs Cotto, couldn't move and do his usual style. The only way Martinez was able to beat Chavez was by using his footwork. In the 12th, Chavez hurt Martinez's knees. Chavez vs an immobile Martinez would have an easy time beating him and stopping him.
I think Canelo is pretty good, nice to watch, a very solid fighter. But I also think GGG will show us his true level in September
Martinez would dismantle Canelo and stop him late. Canelo struggled with Lara and Trout both elusive southpaw counter punchers, neither have as good a chin as Martinez or hit nearly as hard.
Okay I just did the math, and the answer is, you don't know what the **** you're talking about. Martinez was in against a non drained Cruiserweight Chavez who was coming off of a brutal KO victory over Lee who hadn't been through a horrific beatdown at the hands of a 6'3 Light Heavyweight in Fonfara and years of overeating and inactivity. Martinez was ruined by Chavez and Chavez in turn was demoralized and ruined by Martinez in that match. Also Chavez has the chin to take Martinez's power for 12 rounds in his prime, and guess what.... he still has the chin to take Canelo's power for 12 rounds. The catch is, Canelo fought a corpse version of Chavez who wasn't even trying to win, Martinez faced a healthy and hungry Chavez who was. Chavez hurting Martinez is irrelevant, because Canelo fights nothing like Chavez, he's risk adverse, hence his fear of walking down Cotto and fully committing to trying to KO him, and he definitely wouldn't go all out looking for a KO against a much bigger puncher than Cotto. And what evidence do we have that Canelo hits harder than Chavez Jr?
Nah, wonky Martinez made his debut after the KD in round 12, that's when his leg went and it never recovered.
