That's actually the only top rated MW prospect left out there, Lemieux and Kirkland got knocked out, Golo and N'Dam are tied at the WBA while Guerrero moved down. Barker is a solid improvement over the Manfredo types.

Personally I'd prefer a unification but Geale will probably look for Mundine in Australia, Sturm wants no part of Martinez, Pirog wants but after his shocking last outing HBO does not want him, and Chavez Jr., well. :rofl

You can only cook with what you have, and that is Barker, Ishida and maybe Rubio, the rest are protected or turned down by HBO.

I agree with everything bar that. Why would HBO refuse Pirog and accept Barker? Pirog would be a unification fight and not to mention he stole the show last time he was on HBO. Martinez doesn't want Pirog because he's high risk and low reward, you're fooling yourself if you think it's because of HBO. DiBella came out and admitted that they don't want Pirog, this was even before his fight with Maciel.

Since Martinez enjoys calling out fighters 2 weight classes below him, why not move up to 168 to make fights?

It doesnt seem like hbo wants pirog, they wanted to make new star hypejob in jacobs and pirog kept that from happening, since then the guy is having difficulties getting a fight and was forced to fight in moscow, it was really unfair and tipical boxingpolitics.
