Did he find the urge already?

Martinez is a giant step from Ortiz.

Tough Tough fight for Floyd.....could be another Castillo type of situation.

to Defensive to get KO'd or TKO'd but Sergio though....and he surely wont open up like P-Dubb!

I don't have a problem with catch weights. Sometimes, that's the only way to get the best to fight the best. I'm a fan of boxing, I really don't care if they fight at weights set by sanctioning bodies, just so they fight. If anything, the set weights is what stops fights from happening.

if you need a catchweight it is not the best fight.Someone is at a disadvantage. Some fights are not meant to happen if a guy cannot get to the weight. Back in the 1980s Hearns moved up and fought Hagler. Leonard and Duran did also. No catchweight. That was for the 160 pound title. A man should not win a title if the weight was agreed to be lower than that titles weight. Why not have Pacman and Ortiz fight for the light heavyweight title at a catchweight of 150. Messes up boxing.

the more catchweights guys like Arum and Pacman want the more boxings titles will be worthless. Catchweights only work if you don't have world titles for certain weights.

This would be a close fight but I don't think FMJ wants this one. If he did, this fight would have been made by now.

Martinez is almost as fast as PBF and much bigger.

You do realize that a catchweight has to be set within the limit of the weight division they are fighting for right? :patsch

Well that is how I see it. Any catchweight is equivalent to any sort of agreement whether 5 pounds lower or 20. If a belt is for a certain weight, it should be at that weight limit.

Anything can be manipulated for the fighters benefit which hurts boxing. I never thought a catchweight would have come up, so anything can be placed in the rule book to benefit a promoters fighter. Catchweights undermine boxing and boxing history. If people love the sport of boxing they should move away from a tactic which builds a promoters fighter so he can be marketed better in future PPVs. It is not about the fighters, it is about the sport.
Why would anyone want a catchweight or have one? Leonard and Lalonde fought for the 168 and 175 pound title, yet had a weight of 168 pounds. So Ray could fight Lalonde the 175 pound champ weakened to 168 for 2 titles, when Lalonde had not ever fought for the 168 pound title. It was ridiculous and Ray hurt boxing, and today Pacman's catchweights hurt boxing to the point where the fans are talking about fights with catchweights. Catchweights hurt boxing. Ray won 2 belts that night when he shouldn't have won any. Just so he could say he had 5 belts like Tommy Hearns did. That made winning the belts less significant and in the long run history didn't mean as much.

Word titles are overrated, the lack of a governing body will ruin boxing
