If Sergio fights again, it will be against someone much easier the way Hatton did to try and bow out on a high note

Sergio's into real estate anyway, so he's got a career already there once his boxings done and dusted. Not that he's short of a bob or two

No, thank you. I know Martinez still wants to fight, but I hope not against GGG.

Not saying that it's a good fight.
Not saying Sergio has a chance.
Personally, I think fighting Murray on a wet canvas is what ruined him.
But, he himself said that the Cotto fight was NOT his last fight.
He, himself said he would NOT lower his LOC(though, anyone lower than top 5 would be doing so).
And yeah, he's got $$$, but he's not wealthy by any means, and real estate is a very volatile investment market.
    Ppl making bad deals daily.
3-5 million would go a along way in an older fights retirement, especially considering his lifestyle and charitable ventures.

Yeah, he's on bad legs, but let's face it, a better prepared and more respectful Martinez doesnt get blown out by Cotto regardless of his knees.

Who's to say he couldnt potshot for a few rds and play it safe defensively and make for a somewhat glamorous exit, all the while making a nice chunk of change.

I could see K2 giving him the higher purse split just to propel GGG into PPV status.:think

If Martinez performed well vs a top fighter and suffered no injuries I'd say fine but reserve my opinion on how to grade the win by GGG on how Sergio does

I don't regard Cotto's win as insignificant but it definitely is a win that looks so much better on paper than it actually is...I know a mob of people will chime in and say oh well Martinez was the favorite blah blah blah and all that but honestly most people who picked Martinez did mention well if the knee goes out its more likely for Cotto

Murray couldn't put away an injured Martinez so Cotto gets that credit though its clear that Martinez was hurt in the first round whereas vs Murray it was later in the fight

yeah, the knee wasn't as stable on that wet apron, and fighters can fare well with repaired knees, if they're fighting the right fight.

Klitschko, Solis, Yuri Foreman....all examples of guys who did pretty well after knee surgery.

For all we know, Sergio simply bought into his own hype and misjudged Cotto, got hurt early, and never stabilized.:think

Could be a completely different ballgame vs GGG, especially if GGG goes out there looking to outdo Cotto. Could blow his load early, and end up getting outpointed.

Wouldnt give Martinez more than a 20% chance of GGG fighting stupidly, but it's happened before.:think

This is the worst idea in the history of ideas. I like Sergio but I wouldn't even wish this on him if I hated his guts with a vengeance.

A loss is a loss. He can't go out worse than Spinks or Malik Scott did.

And 3-5 million bucks is quite a motivation, NTM, doing it at 40 yo he already has a built in excuse.

Ppl were flirting with the idea of Taylor vs Golovkin, and Chad Dawson actually took on Adonis Stevenson after a worse showing than Sergio vs Cotto.

No, it's not a good fight, but it could be financially beneficial to both fighters.

Casuals will be looking to rewatch the Pac/May fight, and for GGG, having the former lineal champ, demolished on a huge stage, would grab a lot of casual Pac and Floyd fans.

Martinez gets a great payday without having to climb back up the rankings.:good

I was thinking more from Sergio's physical well being perspective than any financial gains he would make. I really like Sergio and would hate to see him get KTFO in brutal fashion. It's either that or he gets the Murray and Ouma slow brutal brain damage beat down treatment, which he doesn't posses the chin to do to be fair. I really wouldn't want to see either. :good

I wouldnt either, but Golovkin ALWAYS feels his man out for a rd or two, and Sergio, even with a bad leg, can run well enough and is big enough to extend the fight into the 3rd or 4th.

Sure, he likely he's KO'd but at this stage, the $$$ would be righteous, all things considered, especially piggybacking on the replay.

And the high profile win among casuals, would raise GGGs profile.:think

Martinez vs Golovkin is a outrageously stupid fight

He wouldn't ''likely'' get KO'd, he'd definitely get KO'd and it would be ugly to watch. I honestly wouldn't want to see it no matter what. Now, Chris Eubank Jr. vs Golovkin I would absolutely love to see. Watching him get brutally KTFO by Golovkin would be absolutely delicious.

That would be pretty much a televised execution. Or maybe, Martinez's knees offers so little resistance he wouldn't even absorb too much damage before being laid down.

Eubank Jr isnt a big enough name for a GGG showcase fight consdiering HBO will likely draw 6-10 million for the May Pac replay.

It's gotta be a high profile fight.
Cotto would be ideal. Biggest name coming off the biggest win. Lee would work, but he's busy. As would Canelo, same deal.

Who's got the profile, aint busy, and wouldnt duck the fight??? And NEEDS a payday????:think:think:think

Could they bond out Jermain Taylor or pull Pavlik out of the bar????:lol::lol:

They could drag Taylor out of the nuthouse and Pavlik out of the bar and Golovkin could fight both of them at the same time in an exhibition match. :deal
