Taylor could give Martinez some fits if he still has something less. Doubt Martinez KO's Taylor though. Martinez KO'd a Welterweight Williams, just saying. Could happen in 2012 as I belive Jermain Taylor was promoted by Lou Dibella, as is Martinez
damn, they got the same promoter don't they? ****, this is prolly on the money. this would be a pretty good sized show for Lou DiBella
I thought DiBella walked away from Taylor because he didn't want to see Taylor getting KO'd viciously again?
JT got 3 doctor evaluations all clearing him and saying there was no threat to continue, that is why I'm happy that he is back. I didn't know he had bleeding from his brain after the AA loss.
¸if fact this is a really intersing match-up! i take Martinez by close UD , if Sergio want to move at 168lbs he need to be able to pass a guy like JT! JT he's still a good 10 rounds boxer but at least he could gave Sergio some probles with hs speed!
While thats great, I don't know if Dibella has taken Taylor back per se. He's not listed on his roster. http://www.dbe1.com/athletes.php Who knows though, this should all be sorted out in the near future.
Here's the Rafael article. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=6710720 There are several important points in Fat Dan's article. 1) Jermain is officially back with Pat Burns. 2) JT will return at 160 pounds. Burns said Taylor should have never been at 168, nor struggled to make 160. JT is down to 165 pounds from a high of 197. It sounds like he lost the weight voluntarily with no real pressure from Burns. 3) The Mayo Clinic gave JT a 100% clean bill of health. 4) Jermain's wife Erica is completely supportive of his return to boxing. Right now I'd say there are to many unanswered questions to speculate about a potential Taylor/Martinez fight. I'll take a wait and see approach, and see how he looks on August 23, the proposed date for his next fight. However, I do believe that the version of Jermain we saw in the two Pavlik fights, and the Froch fight, would beat the hell out of Martinez. BUT, keep in mind, it is not Martinez he would need to fight in order to get the WBC title back, nor is it Martinez he would need to fight to get the WBO title back. As of right now, he'd have to fight Chavez jr and Dimitry Pirog. A lesser version of Jermain could beat both those guys. Of course Pirog could get lucky and stop JT.
