Chavez Jr was on fire with the power shots to the body last night but will it be enough to take out Martinez? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-rpz71RQfk[/ame]
Jr tko ... to much heart to big to strong... daddy's rock solid chin, to much body work.. to much pressure .. The old man will be retired. He can't run all night and will be forced to go toe to toe and on the inside hell get murdered
Things to consider for me: Martinez is quite a small middleweight but packs power. Martinez is mobile, fast of hand and foot, but has balance issues, footwork not great, this has led to knockdowns in the past. Martinez tends to gas/take a break (whichever way you look at it) in the middle stretch of fights, but starts and ends strongly. Chavez Jr has no jab, or at least he doesn't use it effectively. He does however have superb bodywork, nice uppercuts and a good work-rate. Chavez Jr has a good chin, but is at times happy to simply soak up punishment and does not seem comfortable fighting on the back foot. Chavez Jr tends to come on strong in fights, using his superior size to his advantage on the inside. I think Martinez is too fast of foot for Chavez Jr to get to the ropes for prolonged spells. Chavez Jr is easy to tag, Martinez would find him with ease despite the height differential. Chavez Jr would need to utilize a strong, consistent jab to get close to Martinez. He does not seem to have this, and would thus struggle to pin the Argentine down on a regular basis. Martinez would win the early rounds, however, he would have to move a lot, and he does tend to take breaks in fights. I see Chavez Jr coming into the fight, pinning Martinez around the 5th/6th rounds and working him over to the body. Martinez has a good chin himself however, and is very durable. He would take Chavez Jr's punishment to the body and tag the Mexican at will down the final stretch. 8-4, 116-112 Martinez.
Good work. Tho in light of what has happened to Williams since... Seeing that KO is kinda rough. (What a shot)
