As fast and skilled as Martinez is, his stamina was lacking in the later rounds against a guy who was fighting at ww and claims he could still make it. Pavlik is a BIG MW who WILL rough up Martinez and impose his siza, I think Pavlik catches him in rounds 8-10. PAVLIK KO MARTINEZ
Pavlik smashes both Martinez and Williams... too small, too hittable. That doesn't make them bad fighters, they're just a little undersized to match with the awesome size and power of Kelly Pavlik.
Tough fight. Not tough in terms of Pav taking punishment. But Martinez is fast and awkward. In addition the best southpaw on KP's record is a still viable but faded McKart. McKart tried to stay right in KP's chest and wear him down. Dumb idea. Sergio would not fight that way. Sergio would use his speed and movement to keep Pavlik guessing. However, Pav would catch him hard enough and often enough to slow him down, and trap him in 10-11 rounds. Once Pav traps ya, you're done.
I'm a big Pavlik fan, but I don't see him breaking down (if you can call it that) Martinez the way PW did last night. PW just kept coming forward and throwing punches as he always has and it had an exhausting effect on Martinez. Very tough fight either way, though. If Martinez is open to one punch in particular, it's the straight right, Pavlik's money shot.
How do you not see that happening against Pavlik? Kelly is bigger, can walk throw alot of punishment, throws lots of punches himself, and is much heavier handed than Paul Williams. Seems to me like Martinez would fade a whole lot quicker against the middleweight champ.
I'd give Martinez a better chance than Williams on the strength of his chin, but I think neither sees 12 against Pavlik.
