Combine that with the fact that he probably thought Miguel was just to small to make a dent in him, boy was he wrong.

Yup, haven't watched it since. It was bull****.

Roach knew 100% that Martinez's knees were ****ed, and wouldn't let him wear a brace either for the fight.

    Bull****.

Well at least he's probably recovered significantly now and enjoying his millions.

One of the few fights that actually bothers me in some notable way.

Some people have a Margario/Cotto issue, I guess I've got a Cotto/Martinez one. Fight bothers me on so many different levels.

I only watched that fight once and that was when it was ppv. I remember thinking up to the match that depending on how Sergio's knees looked it would affect the outcome of the match. As soon as I saw him move in the ring I knew it was over. I was never a huge Sergio fan but man was it depressing to see him hobbling around the ring. I hope there are no Cotto fans that seriously consider that fight a victory worthy of listing on his resume.

I remember betting Maravilla as an odds on favourite, 1/2 I think?
I was aware of the concerns over his physical condition as I'm sure the bookmakers were, obviously neither of us were as informed as to the extent of his injury as some posters here….I hope you all made out like bandits backing Cotto to prevail against a cripple.

I actually thought Sergio would win this fight. One of my worst predictions ever.

Sergio had no business getting in the ring that night. As much as I liked him as a fighter, he really put MONEY before BOXING that night.

He honestly could have probably been investigated for lying to commission about his state of health because I think the only reason he lost is because he was basically a cripple. His legs were moving like they were hurt the whole fight.

Pretty sure he had a knee brace on.. I remember his trunks nearly came down to his ankles.

Sexy Sergio was ripe for the picking. He wasn't the destroyer from the Williams fights. I think prime Maravilla and PWilly would have no problems handling Cotto, tho you also have to give some credit to Cotto because he was taking a huge risk. It's hard to tell if Cotto really did improve under Roach and got a 2nd chance in his career or if it was Roach's matchmaking, which also helped in Pacquiao vs Delajoya. I think both had a hand in Cotto's recent success. Cotto still looked impressive and world class against the younger, bigger, stronger Canelo. So no fluke there.
