i've said all along...Benvenuti would have been a bit too much for Sergio to handle.

this one is a great match, of course nino has more history ... but h2h i think that martinez at his best night can win this one by decision, sergio looks stronger at 160 pounds, i like nino at 154

Nino would have had his man down en route to a clean decision.

    Nino.

Murray won the fight yesterday btw, that was not a fair decision

Depends where it was and what rules were used...

In a neutral venue, maybe Martinez just has that bit more killer instinct in him to edge it, particularly if it was under today's weigh in rules.

If not, then with his experience of 15 rounders, maybe Benvenuti could sneak it.

    I agree...

And what a surprise, the Brit and the Brazilian think the Argentine lost!;)

Nino would have been able to outbox/outfight this guy...this isn't a Carlos Monzon we're talking about here...he just happens to be from Argentina.

Benvenuti at or near his best was just better than Martinez.

better punches and boxing skills.Could also spoil and be dirty and was just as quick.

I think that last point is the most important one - I don't think Martinez could get away with fighting with his hands at his sides against someone as quick-fisted as Benvenuti.

Benvenuti was a very good boxer.

Sergio thinks he's a very good boxer.

sergio has a chance vs most anyone without a good chin, benvenuti had a very good one

Wasn't iron though. Just don't think Sergio's reflex-based game works much here.

sergio martinez criminally underrated basing on his fight with murray... now the people think that anyone would beat him... ridiculous... murray was the challenger, when you are the challenger and you are fighting in the home of the champ you need to win the fight 100% a beating or by knock out if not you are going to lose.. mmartinez is a very good fighter and he would have chance against anyone in a good night. ali lost against norton 2-3 times... chavez lost against whitaker, marquez was robbed against pacquiao too.jimmy young did beat ali, whiterspoon did beat larry holmes, james toney lost against dave tiberi for sure and?¿ ... sergio is 38? nearly 38? cmon.... ridiculous

Chavez Jr finished stronger despite being horribly weight drained and stoned. Macklin and Barker took rounds off Sergio.

Nino had inconsistencies too. So you take the fighter who was more skilled and doesn't have a stylistic disadvantage.

    So you'd pick Benvenuti.

So what if Sergio is 38?! He started late, doesnt cut much weight, and was fighting a bog standard challenger.'Think anyone would beat him'; it isn't just anyone, it's a better fighter than he.

Biased much you utter ****?! Your threads are shite, your posts are mongified, shut it.
