 No Carter did not beat Giardello. I guess you watched "Hurricane" too often.

However, Carter was no glorified journeyman, he was a damned good fighter and a decent contender during his time. And he wasn´t some dumb brawler either, he had some skills although he ignored them in favour of his power most of the time.

Lithgow does in Carter Trinity-style. Deep down, Bodhi...you know that. ...In your heart. Carter ends up in the bathtub with Lithgow-Prime for prime.

No I actually watched 11rounds of the fight, Carter landed the harder more damaging blows from what I saw and kept Giardello against the ropes allot, threw more and scored to the body. Giardello landed some flashy clean punches on his part, but they didn't look anything like as damaging. I never got around to seeing the final 4rounds however so I can't comment on who won, it seems Carter has a case all the same.

Carter would've taken out Paul Williams, but Martinez could outpoint him. I don't like Martinez's hands down style though.

I like how he fought Cintron with his hands up for most of the fight. He defense and footwork looked spectacular in that fight. He should have kept his hands up more in the Pavlik and first Williams fight.

I think he was a little too timid against Cintron though compared to how he fought Williams and Pavlik. He would have run Cintron out of the ring had he fought him the way he fought Williams last Saturday.

I guess he feels more relaxed with his hands down to his waist, but it wouldn't be the smartest thing to do against an explosive puncher like Hurricane Carter.

Giardello and Archer handled Carter, Cater was tough but could be out-boxed

He arguably won both of those fights.

Carter had a really short prime, but i tend to think he's often underestimated.Being a murdering scumbag doesnt help him.

    oh really:think

he is outboxed simply. he doesnt let anything go after round 7 the match and busts giardello. but lost the fight. he didnt look in good shape himself either.

also martinez is not being overrated here he shows he is champion material.

I think I have in the past let the scumbag tag get in the way of my objectivity..I recalled the giardello fight as being pretty clearly in joeys favour...but in subsequent viewings I see a much closer fight that giardello just gets home in.

Giardello and archer probably barely drop a round to pavlik or Williams.

Sorry, but I'm not falling for the "this is the type of fight Martinez should have no problem winning" hype. I just don't see it. Martinez is not a special fighter in any way. He's a good, awkward counter-puncher, but nothing outstanding. Carter was a solid, well schooled boxer-puncher with tremendous power. I could see Martinez's spoiling and unorthodoxy taking him for a trip, although he'd still likely win a decision, or I could see Carter sparking him clean out. I can't see Martinez winning against anything other than an out of sorts version of Carter, however.
