HBO once again tells Sergio Martinez who to fight or get the **** out, and for whatever reason their choice is top LMW champion, unbeaten Sergiy Dzinziruk. Now that's a terrific fight that could go for the World LMW Championship as Maravilla left the division as #1 and many of us rate Sergiy the best right now - only this fight is happening two years too late. Martinez can't make 154 anymore (though he says he'd kill himself to do it if the magical PacMan offer came, but we all know Arum/Roach won't ever let that happen), and no matter if Sergiy is your very best or top3 LMW, Martinez won't get proper credit for 'picking on a smaller guy' (even though Dzinziruk is bigger and it's a forced fight).

For once HBO is pushing for the right fight but with bad timing and wrong methods. How on earth is that they strongarm the Lineal World MW Champion and play promoter, but keep no-seller Berto feasting on total bums for 7-figure paydays? Disgusting! Let the WORLD'S VERY BEST FIGHTER WHO DOESN'T HANDPICK OPPONENTS decide who to fight and don't tell him fight this guy or GTFO! Dzinziruk BTW turned down Martinez a few years back, so Sergio is not so eager to give Sergiy his big chance.

Once again, the fight is elite quality quite possibly between the best of two divisions, but the manner they treat boxing's most positive and feel-good person doesn't make it right. The message they send is 'know your place Argie shithead, you ain't Berto or Dawson' and **** HBO for that!

Hbo ****ing sucks, they are controlling boxing in a wrong. They like making hypejobs that get exposed by guys like pirog and then give the winner 0 credit. Forcing Martinez to take a fight is bull****, I like the fight vs dzin but hbo should not be pushing for it, its not coming off at the moment because sergei wants a bigger paycheck. Martinez should make one hell of a match up and let showtime and hbo bid.

I like this match up. Even though it's at 160 pounds, i think Dzin would have beaten Sturm and maybe even against Pirog. I think Dzin is one of the most underrated fighter cause he has a very good skills with a great great lazor jab. His style can give Martinez alot of trouble.

I'll be giving Martinez huge props if he beats Dzin. Dzin ain't no jokes, Yea many will say Martinez beat a smaller fighter but if they are true boxing fans, they would know that Dzin ain't a smaller fighter and that he could maybe beat fighters like Stum, Pirog.

Martinez is doing something that both Pacquiao and Mayweather won't even do and that's face "REAL" fighters. Look at the last 4 fights, Martinez got screwed twice on the same night vs Cintron, he lost in a very close decision over Williams in the first fight, he bust up Pavlik to win the legit middleweight championship and then ko Williams in the rematch. And now Martinez will fight another real fighter in Dzin.

Martinez aint that big himself. Will be a great fight. I wonder where people will rank him after Martinez beats him ? Cos lets face it. For Pacquiao fighting Clottey, Margarito and Mosley should not give him the nr 1 spot. If Mosley and Pacquiao would have happened instead of Margarito, then yes. Floyd doesnt fight at all so...yeah.
    Martinez is near the top.

Exactly. I consider Martinez has a small middleweight.

This will be a really tough fight for Martinez. I hope he doesnt underestimate him.

It will be interesting to see the betting lines on this fight. I might put some money on this....

I think this is great news. Other than Pac or PBF, there is no one I'd like to see Martinez fight more the Dzinziruk.

We are talking about two different things. 1) Solid match-up 2) I dislike how HBO toss Martinez around as if he was still some unknown challenger, and in the meantime overpay overrated in-house fighters who take on cab drivers for a million dollars. The man's the Fighter of the Year, the World MW Champion and P4P the best Latino boxer on the planet, and you don't give take it or GTFO ultimatums to one of the premier guys of the sport. This top notch match-up should've happened when both were LMW champions, for the lineal belt, but now Martinez will be tagged cherry picker on smaller guys and he can do nothing about it. Lose-lose situation. Plus Dzinziruk could've but didn't give Maravilla a shot at LMW a few years back, yet he's getting one at MW?

Martinez must feel as grateful for this fight as people in a bombed down city when enemy planes drop down food and medical supplies. **** you very much!
