This is a good fight but a year or two ago at 154 it'd have been one of the best fights in boxing.

Seriously, I'd give Dzinziruk a very good chance against Williams.

BB is right though, HBO for once are doing the right thing and forcing a good fight but they're doing it to the wrong fighter. No doubt Berto will get a date next against some unworthy guy and all that for a 7 figure purse :-(

I have no problems with the match-up itself, I mean it's not gonna be a brawl or anything, but an elite boxing match, and not the Ward-Kessler but the Calzaghe-Kessler type. The no1 LMW (in my book) fights the no1 MW, that's something big. I'm just fuming about Martinez being tossed around and that the fight comes 2 years too late.

HBO is probably pissed that Martinez ruined 2 of their hypejobs. Cintron was also one of the former HBO alumni but i guess Margarito is the one that wrecked him so Martinez cant take credit for that.

Its just like Pirog. After that fight all the fans have wanted to get more of Pirog and it hasnt happened yet we are fed guys like Ortiz fighting Peterson or Berto fighting Hernandez.

Its like if you are foreign and beat an HBO fighter you will be frozen out.

I mean come on!! how many of us wanted to see more of Martinez and Pirog after their wins here?? The demand was there but HBO did not want to supply. I mean if the foreign upset fighter can get the win they must be damn good because they either have to be extremely dominant over the HBO fighter or KO him because HBO has shown they are not getting the scorecard win.

This fight made sense at 154 a few yrs ago

and im tired of this Martinez is a 154 champ bull**** hes middleweight so we should treat him like one

Taylor fought a bunch of 154 pounders

    Pavlik fought a few

Martinez has good fighters like Pirog Golovkin Sturm and maybe even Bute at the weight above but hes fighting a 154 lber

Hell NO! Why would Martinez be tagged a cherrypicker when he is taking on a real threat? Dzin is not even mentioned among the 154lbs because he is a high risk/low reward type of guy. You don't hear Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Pac, Mayweather, etc..wanting to fight Dzin! Okay, Martinez is been forced but its a damn good fight and one of the best fights programmed so far for this year. The fight could go either way, its a toss up 50/50. And I wouldn't mind seeing the Martinez/Dzin winner take on Pirog either if HBO pushes it :deal **** for all I want, they can throw in Kirkland in there too, some where among those names!

This is a good fight, Dzinziruk is a solid fighter who will give Martinez a tough fight. This is a really impressive 5 fight streak Martinez is on. I'm glad HBO played hard and didn't accept someone like Lee but they need to take this stance with all their fighters. Like most, I almost expect Berto's next fight to be an easy one on HBO. But this is still a good fight.

The Razor is an outstanding tactician, and it burns my ass to no end that his career has essentially been an after thought. He will give Sergio everything he can handle and may even register the upset.

I agree with what you are saying but Martinez also wants a big fight and i think he finally deserves one after being treated like crap.

I was watching his fights with PW and KP this weekend and the HBO commentators are so biased against him. In the Pavlik fight. I forget what round it was but Martinez was still dominating and they were talking about how PAvlik had basically figured out MArtinez and blah blah blah.

Certainly a tough match-up, but I wouldn't throw too much money on the upset. Sergiy is a jabber and Sergio is very good neutralizing that punch. But if you can bet just on Serg to win do it! :thumbsup

I like this fight, and have no problem with HBO pushing for it. Another tough fight for Sergio, but he should be able to pull it out. Hopefully HBO will give Pirog a chance after this.
