ok look like this fight might happen after all. looks to happen early feb a client of mine close to the scene states it's very likely but some things need to be worked out. but who wins this fight and how ? what will be the factor that makes the difference for the winner?
Wouldn't mind seeing this fight, although I don't think Martinez has earned a shot yet.. I'd go with Forrest by decision..
Who really deserves a shot in this sorry division? It depends on how the old Viper comes in, Sergio Martinez definetly has a live chance at beating, if Mora can do it, but right now I'll go with Forrest by UD.
People saying Martinez doesn't deserve the shot are ******ed. He clearly showed he was a class above destroying Bunema.
Forrest always blows hot and cold. A shocking loss to Mora followed by a very good return win over Mora. He's getting on a bit, and I think he'd feel a bit upset if he didn't get a third with Sugar Shane. He doesn't get up for this one and Martinez takes it on points. Bunema was decent if not awesome and Martinez, from what I've seen, totally outclassed him. In 154, anything to inject some life into it would be appreciated.
Martinez is the interim champ isnt he? Therefore theoretically he supposed to fight Forrest next or Forrest gets stripped, even that almost never seems to happen with the WBC. They are more then happy to have 2 champs for as long as possible..more $$$ for them. Im not sure why people are gushing at the vagina over Martinez just for beating Bunema. He isnt the first to dominate Alex, less capable guys have done it before. That being said this could well be a hard fight for Vernon. Ás Flea said Forrest runs a bit hot and cold at times, he is getting old. Could have a few more fights left in him, could have one, could have one..We will have to wait and see.
The thing was though, Bunema had only last been dominated by Jermain Taylor at middleweight four years ago, which Bunema had no business at. Bunema Knocked out Karmazin in January in a close fight (before the knockout) and knocked out fringe contender Matthysse. He was coming off two good wins with A lot of momentum.
