Sergio Martinez: "We'll Fight Canelo In September"

    Like I said man, he will have fought 3 guys that are currently still in the top 10 of his division. (By most boxing peoples rankings) Thats more then most champions at 147, 154, or 160 have done. To try and single out Martinez like hes not fighting his challengers is absurd. Hes done more then most.

    Exactly what more do you want him to do? He fought your boy Chavez, who was his clearest challenger since hes been at middle until GGG has come along. How is that not ****? :lol: Makes no sense. Chavez was arguably the 2nd or 3rd best middleweight in the division when Martinez beat him.... and Id still favor JR over just about anyone except Pirog and GGG at this point. And I actually think Chavez would give GGG a hell of a fight.

    So, since hes already beaten his main rival, what exactly do you want him to do Freddy? :lol: Now that he fought Chavez, who is he avoiding oh so much for you to say 'What makes it ok for him to do it'.

    The number 1 guy in the division wont fight him (Geal), hes beaten the number 3 (Chavez), the number 4 guys is injured (Pirog), and hes beaten the 5th ranked guy (Macklin).

    Do you realise this?

    He has only had one real rival at the weight, that was Chavez. He already fought him. He has beaten 2 of the top 5 of his peers, with a 3rd not going to fight him, a 4th injured, with only ONE guy who is now making waves that one could say that Martinez is avoiding.

    Its simply ridiculous to try and hate on sergio for trying to go after one of the biggest names around him right now, and who is an undefeated champion, in what would be a blockbuster fight. To hate on his desire to fight Canelo is absurd. Really the only problem is he wants it at 160, when the fight should be at 154. But then really, at the end of the day, hes giving Canelo a chance to fight for THE middleweight championship of the world, and Canelo is a big dude himself. So even that is not that big a deal, even though indeed the fight should be at 154.

    But no, instead of wanting a badass fight with the undefeated champion canelo, in what would be a badass war, he should want to fight.... ummmm.... who again? lol....

    Fight Canelo in September, then if he beats Canelo fight GGG in his final fight of his career.

    To hate on that is just reaching at some bizarre anti martinez agenda.

    A couple of reasons why Martinez would take the Mayweather bout at 154lbs and not Canelo.

    Mayweather is a guaranteed huge payday that holds great rewards also.

    Canelo is not a guaranteed huge payday that does not hold great rewards in comparison to the Mayweather bout (Slightly different story if Canelo beats Trout convincingly).

    Martinez does not have to kill himself to make 154lbs for the above bout, but would be willing to for the higher payday/reward bout. Makes sense really.

    He can make it with no problems? Hmmm he hasnt fought there in 4 years. Where is this proof you speak of?

    Hes been calling out the highest paid boxer in the sport that is 2 weight classes below him that has already climbed 5 weights yet he wont call out any SMW?:patsch

    He isn't saying martinez can make 154 no problem. He's questioning it.

    You misinterpreted my post. I was questioning if he's as comfortable making 154 as he claims.

    If he moves down to fight Mayweather and drains himself then Floyd beats him, do you think anyone would really give floyd credit?

    I can hear it now...Floyd ducked him until he was old, coming off an injury and Floyd drained him" :lol:

    if Floyd was a natural 160lb fighter, Martinez would get completely dominated. The size disparity is hilarious. Martinez wants to fight a guy that wont weight moere than 151lbs, and he will weight about 170. lol:lol:

    But I dont believe he would be. It would look like Oscar dropping from 154 to WW. He didnt dight at WW in about 8 years at the time he dropped to 147 to fight Manny

    I don't believe Martinez can make 154 without draining himself. He's only going down for that big paycheck,that's Floyd or Manny. Not suprised Canelo doesn't get that treatment.
