Dzininziruk is coming up from 154 as well and he's not a big puncher. How do you think he would do against Pavlik?

To be honest, I think Pavlik knocks him out late because a guy that doesn't move his head and isn't a big puncher himself is going to get KTFO by Pavlik.

:deal Yea, exactly. I think people smart enough should know by now getting in a toe to toe battle with Martinez is not the smart way to beat him. Williams and even Cintron had some success with their jabs. We've seen the best of Sergio, I may be wrong, but we don't know what the Razor is capable of just like many didn't know what Sergio was capable of. Is the Razor another pandora's box waiting to be opened just like Martinez was? Can't wait to find out.

Very well thought out and lucid post, and while you are valid in most
of your points i must disagree on a few. Firstly, yes. sergio was green
when he lost to margocheato and mauling him isn't necessarliy the way
to beat him now. 2nd'ly, sergey is entirely a different kettle of fish in terms of using his reach than is williams. PW falls in every time and he
punches from too far away. Pwill isn't a thinking fighter like sergey is.
also, the czech konecny DID NOT give dzin fits( you didn't see the fight,
it's Ok though you can admit it to yourself, i know the truth)
While I do give the nod to the champion in predictions road, one cannot
help to have alot wonder as to how the fight will turn out. To call dzin
a textbook euro fighter(what does that mean anyway, they say that
about pirog:patsch) means you're great written analogy is based on reading,
fact finding, and heresay. Not studying the fighter on tape like i have.
Sergey is a very boring fighter, and he'll never be a star. He could shut
sergio out and shock the boxing world, but would probably get boo's in the process as the cards were being announced. I had to force myself to pay attention in the 3 fights i've seen of him, but the man is a flawless prefromer. Sergio, isn't..............and by far. Martinez is fast, awkward,
fit, and has heart. His cons are, mediorce balance and footwork( poor man's joe calzaghe with better power) and an at times reckless style, but
his assets are his awkwardness, and his fitness. I suspect this fight will
have alot of heads being scratched, but it won't be an easy nights work for either guy. My prediction is a 116-112 win for sergio because of the
effort and better punch selection, but he will be outboxed in about half
the contest mixed in throughout. A close decision win for the razor would
not shock me in the slightest. I value your opinion hendo, but i'm sensing
a little bias here along with true boxing knowledge.

    Good thread either way:good

:-(When Martinez loses you will hype Dzinziruk and pretend to be a huge fan of his for years.

Dzinziruk - Martinez is a great fight that I havent decided a winner between yet, but will do nearer fight time.
Its easy to get carried away with Martinez because he beat a couple of hype jobs in Williams and Pavlik, but Dzinziruk will be a real test of his ability.

    Look forward to this one

Mr. Christo, I have to give you credit. I didn't get to watch the entire Konecny fight because YOUTUBE only had rounds 1 and 2. I checked the outcome of the fight and saw that it ended in an SD which I then used to assume that the fight didn't change much from the first 2 rounds.

While often assuming things based on an outcome you didn't see come into fruition is not the most intelligent thing to do, in this case Dzinziruk has not shown me based on what I've seen of him in other fights that he can adapt. With him, from at least what I HAVE seen, what you see is what you get.

But in the Konecny fight, another thing I noticed was how Konecny was able to land his left hook. This concerns me because Martinez will come in low, which may provoke Dzinziruk to keep his hand low or at least away from his face like against Konecny to throw jabs, which Martinez will use as an opportunity to counter with a short left hook over the top, like he did against Paul Williams. A guy that is not used to moving his upperbody to avoid punches that makes that sort of mistake is in for a long or very short night.

I also agree with your assertion about styles in reference to a particular region because like you said, guys like Calzaghe and Pirog are definitely not protypical Euro fighters in the traditional sense in which it is defined.

But I think we both know what I'm refering to in the sense that it means the fighters typically stand straight up and use a highguard, dominated by a good jab. Winky Wright also used this style to much success. Now I'm not saying that Dzinziruk is quite on Winky's level at this time nor that his style is exactly the same, it's just similiar.

Another fighter, one who more closely resembles in Dzinziruk in my opinion is Mijares, another southpaw. Now the "Euro" style tends to be especially effective as a southpaw because its defense mechanism can make it very difficult to score cleanly against.

But I won't get to much into that, and I'll cut right to the chase. When Mijares fought a fellow Southpaw in Darchinyan, a lot of advantages he may have had as a Southpaw were nullified. Darchinyan used a crouching, style with plenty of movement, and often caught Mijares leaning in trying to hit his crouching opponent and was countered for his trouble.

I can see Sergio doing a similar job on Dzinziruk, and like Darchinyan doing a great deal of damage with his left hand, through hooks, uppercuts, and straight lefts.

I believe if Sergiy was an orthadox fighter this fight would be competitive, but because he's a southpaw, it's going to be a one sided domination that may end in a knockout. I don't think this fight was a very wise decision by his management.

He still needs to develop. He probably should have fought Yuri Foreman to see how well he can deal with his movement.

I could be wrong though, but after throughly examining each respective fighter's style and using different, but similiar fighters as examples, I just don't see how this fight could go any other way.

There was nothing wrong with the knockdown. Martinez went down off a 3 punch combinatian. Pavlik won every round from 4 thru 8, and you could most certainly make a case for a 10/10 3rd round.

Funny thread. That piston-like jab of Sergiy's will be hitting the mark all night long.

The thing is, whatever experience Sergiy does have against fighting Southpaws, were more than likely guys that fought similliarly to him.

When he gets in the ring with a Southpaw that has a COMPLETELY different style than he is accustomed to who has almost every concievable advantage, it's game over.

It's as simple as that. Dzinziruk is going to be way out of his element. He should have opted to fight someone like Yuri Foreman first.

Let's not pretend that Martinez has elusive defense. The guy is wide open all the time to be hit, and Sergiy WILL hit him. Sergiy is a patient, efficient fighter, and that will prove difficult for Martinez. I don't think Martinez' movement will be a problem for Sergiy because he's not going to chase him around the ring or anything. And let's not forget that Sergiy is a really good counter puncher. I just feel you are selling the guy short is all.

I think Dziniziruk's switch in trainers was a smart decision and may help this become a more competitive fight.

yes, there are some idiots here on ESB that never saw the fight that say that SM dominated KP. I posted on another thread a youtube link where lederman had KP ahead after 8 rounds and E.Steward said that he felt that KP was going to win the fight becasue of harder and more efficient punching.

after the cut in the 9th, KP folded.

i dont see dzin bringing anything that SM has not seen or dealt with before. actually, dzin brings less. he has no proven power at 154 and is moving up to 160.

there is a reason he is +375. he has around a thirty percent chance of winning this fight.
