He was a very good fighter but you are right, something like 2 fights in 4 years ruined him.

Martinez' win doesnt look that great but he did take him out in proper style, not like he struggled for 12 rounds with him, which would make your point better. It will look a decent win on paper in a few years to people who know the sport, but it wont be put in the context it could have had it a) been at 154, dznizuriks best weight and b) happened 3/4 years before it did

He fought a SMW at 154 and escaped with a draw. If anything it makes the win look better. Anyway Sergio disfiguring Junior to a late TKO will be more important in the long run.

That win was overrated massively at the time.

Draw was a fair decision. Neither is good and Gonzalez fought like a slob, because he is one.

he got hyped up because people were looking for someone to dethrone paul williams so they were just boosting up dzinzuriks name so hopefully he would get thrown into the mix

Still looks nowhere near as weak as Chavez's gift over Zbik.

First off, it was a legitimate draw. I had it 114-114 and the most eligible "swing" round is one that I gave to Gonzalez that arguably should have gone Dzinziruk's way (the eighth) so if not a draw then 115-113 Dzinziruk.

Second, it was his first time in the ring following a sixteen month layoff since he was brutally wrecked by the #1 middleweight in the world.

Third, Mantequilla, who you deem a weak ass opponent (who happens to be Puerto Rican, hmm...wonder if there's any connection..) is an unbeaten prospect rated #7 by the WBA at 154. He was also functionally a light heavyweight.

So, how does it hurt Maravilla that he smacked around and stopped a solid technician who then went on to hold a top-ten prospect thirteen years his junior and outweighing him by a juvenile pitbull in a performance that was simultaneously a rust-shaker and a rebound from a KO loss? :think

I'd say Dzinziruk acquitted himself well, didn't look his sharpest ever by any means, but got the job done, got rounds in, and didn't lose.

It actually makes Martinez's performance against him (in much better shape, while more active and full of confidence and motivation with nothing to lose except his zero and everything to gain) - shine even brighter.

Twisted thread, man. :yep You manage to warp things in a manner that lets you both slag Chavez Jr.'s opponent (soon to be his new Sr. :deal) and dismiss a ranked unbeaten Puerto Rican prospect as nothing. Impressively demented agenda pushing, two for one bonus.

Wouldn't say it looks weak at all, dented yes.. but not weak.

Anyway, Maravilla took him out in style.

Tata is actually really game these days, and has got a fire lit under his ass to finish his career on a better note than being manhandled by Canelo. He fought his heart out against Godoy and got robbed.

It would surprise me a bit if he beat Veneno, but it wouldn't shock me.
