Fighting on a hurt knee, on short notice vs a solid fringe level contender is not always the easiest task.

And Mora, typically fighting off the back foot, was forced on the offense vs Han, and fought an excellent fight vs a quality opponent.

Why doesnt Mora get more crdit for this win.

Han is a poor mans Golovkin, yet Mora made him look timid and amateurish.

Mora has also completely schooled Gregorz Proxa, another fringe level contender on par with Stevens, Rosado, and Rose, yet he gets little credit for that dominating performance.

Did what he had to do vs journeymen Milton Nunez and Jose Flores, and has beat all the prospects who thought to use him as a stepping stone.

We call his style boring, yet we celebrate Mayweather by paying him millions and guys like Broner thing they're about billions.

Mora has his Brian Vera kryptonite, yeah, but the guy finds ways to win vs almost every style of fighter out there.

He's beat an ATG in Vernon Forrest and his run thru the Contender series was impressive.

My question is why is he rated so low? Why doesn't he get the kindof fanfare associated with a guy with his type credentials? Why doesn't he get the big $$$ fights vs the Cottos and Canelos and GGG's?:think:think:think:think

He is and has been a solid contender for awhile. He would get stomped by Golovkin and beat by some of the other top operators but would give a frustrating night

His entire game is "you can't touch me" - but he a) lost Vera I & II clearly, IMO (despite some people insisting they were robberies; although Mora had the higher connect percentage, Vera threw enough more to still have more net contact), b) got dropped by Dashon Johnson (who is a better-than-average journeyman, kind of like a Darnell Boone or Zack Page - and did recently upset the skidding Craig McEwan - but still a journeyman) and c) was put down by the ESPN-level Han and let many of the rounds appear close enough to go either way.

Mora is slipping. His shot to win a title would have been against Taylor. With that falling apart, his window is closed, I think. His reflexes are starting to ebb and without them he doesn't have anything to compete with at the upper echelon - certainly not power, nor work rate.

Han isn't a poor man's Golovkin, he has no power, has poor punch placement and got stopped by Glen Tapia who's a decent but not massive puncher, and Mora didn't win it was a draw at best

But I don't dislike Mora as much as a lot of people seem to, but his style is an acquired taste.

    First off.....

What YOU SAW.......was NOT the Latin Snake.

That was a guy fighting outside his natural style as come forward fighter, putting him often off balance,

Not only is he a top 10 MW, but he would have easily beaten Jermain Taylor had that fight gone down, and I would pick him to easily outpoint Quillin.

He's got that iron chin, so I don't think Andy Lee could put him out with his R hook, and while GGG is certainly stronger than Lee in either hand, I would think the Snake's defense could see him winning some rds off GGG before the body attack finally took it's toll and got to him.

I would ALSO, easily take Mora over Cotto, and if that fight goes down, I'll be putting no less than 500 USD on Mora and the over. No chance Cotto's come forward wild hooking style fazes a smart defensive whiz like Mora, who'll be peppering Cotto with blistering r hands and welting up Cotto's L eye making him look like Cheat-O in their 2nd fight.:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

If nothing else, Mora would be a solid stay busy opponent for Golovkin in the summer if GGG can't get a top name in the ring.:think

    Challenge???
    NO.....nobody presents a CHALLENGE.

    But $$$$$$

Both Canelo and Cotto get GGG that 5+ million he deserves, and make him the automatic next big PPV star when he starches them in Vegas or AC.:good:good:good

Then on to SMW where he can lure Chavez Jr and Ward into HIS ring, on HIS terms and make 8 digits while KTTFO.:good:good:good

Chi, did you see my rebuttal?

Mora is no longer very elusive.

    Ergo, he's basically done.

Squeaking by Han might be his last hurrah.

Mora always been underrated, mainly cos he came from "The Contender" but for a lot of guys, he has a very troublesome style.

I agree....I didn't like his performance he looked old & slow for the first time maybe the knee was a problem but he looked very flat footed & stationary which he has never been .....maybe he was trying too hard for the knock out ???
possible but I didn't like his reflexes & movement 'slipping & tripping all over the place' not your typical latin snake performance ??? maybe he is slipping due to age or maybe it was against a awkward opponent Han had a weird martial arts style !
    looked awful !!!!
we will have to see in his next fight ???

he could win another world title ....with the right opponent ?
but same as his first title win I don't think he will hold it for long

    ......hope im wrong

I just hope we don't end up getting Mora vs. Soliman in an eliminator - which, unfortunately, is very likely. (given that Soliman is the one that flipped the belt Taylor's way, giving him a claim to be in the conversation, and is ranked #6 besides; while Mora was supposed to be Taylor's 1st defense before prison, and is ranked #7)

    1 Hassan N'Dam Cameroon 2 NOT RATED
3 Felix Sturm Germany 4 Billy Joe Saunders England 5 David Lemieux Canada 6 Sam Soliman Australia 7 Sergio Mora United States 8 Eamonn O'Kane Northern Ireland 9 Daniel Geale Australia 10 Curtis Stevens United States

N'Dam N'Jikam vs. Sturm is about to happen for the vacant belt, meaning one will be the champ and the other will fall, probably several places.

That would leave only Lemieux and Saunders ahead of Mora & Soliman in the rankings. The pair of them could wind up #3 and #4 respectively just with the whole list compensating for the vacancies with everyone bumped up a spot.

#3 vs. #4 is hardly unheard of for an eliminator - particularly if Lemieux and/or BJS are tied up in the hunt for another title, or suffer a defeat in the near future.

Mora vs. Soliman would be two shot guys with horrible messy styles to begin with. :barf

It depends on the opponent. Sometimes he is actually "tolerable".

Mora is pretty inconsistent with his performances. The style of the opponent does make a difference, but he really should have lit up Han with combination punching and decent volume, especially in the early going when Han was trying to counterpunch Mora(which is not Han's usual style). Instead, he was mostly doing one shot at a time, loading up more than usual, and not throwing much at all, making even "his" rounds close.

Mora put it all together by his standards on the finale of the Contender in his first fight against Manfredo(it also helped that Manfredo overtrained). In my view, he hasn't had a performance that was as good as that one since.
