This was the worst part about this Espn3 fight card. Diaconu and Bute impressed in the ring, and Bute's ring entrance was pretty cool. Sergio kept saying that he had the fight even with the knockdown in the Diaconu fight. Only to show his score card to see that he had Diaconu ahead the whole time. He then in the same sentance said that Omar Sheika was not out of his prime, then called him past his prime. I was so annoyed by this guy it was almost distracting to the fight. Did anyone else feel this way?
From what I saw in the RBR thread a lot of guys felt the same... "lucky" for me I had another commentator, but he s#cked carrots aswell. He was even making the statement Bute's breaktrough was the dismanteling of American legend James Toney! atsch
No he didn't correct himself, and there was no indication that he knew what he was talking about at all! It was just one of the ridiculous remarks he made during the bout, this one kept hanging with me because I made the joke a few weeks ago on this forum, only this dude seemed to be dead serious about it.
Man, you got to wonder how some of these guys landed their job. Lucky *******s too, it would be a great job.
Indeed, incredible how total nitwits sometimes get the best jobs and keep it no matter how many times they f#ck up. Earlier I just laughed about stuff like this, but lately it's starting to seriously bug me. It's just as irritating as a professional screwing up subtitles on a DVD/BD, if you get paid for that job at least a little skill has to be required.
I thought that he did a pretty good job and I generally dislike Sergio Mora. In fact, I usually pray for his opponents to knock him out. At no point did I feel the commentary became awkward - he spoke when he was supposed to and everything flowed nicely. You get a lot of periods of silence and stuttering with other boxers that are uncomfortable when they are in front of the camera. However, he focused way too much of Jesse. He wasn't being unrealistic about him, but it all came together like a one-sided narrative. I think that Sergio could actually become a decent analyst. He just needs to change his perspective a bit.
I think he did a normal job, not the worst but shitty, he kept just talking about his buddy brinkley and Bute was winning the fight, when someone is winning the fight, the commentator should talk about the winner, not the loser all the fight
Does ESPN3 keep their fight's up, Archive style? I was watching Tarver last night, While watching The Bute fight on my cell phone. (I kinda heard the "HiiiiSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!" of Sergio)
I wish Buddy McGirt became a commentator. "Right about now, they should think about throwing the towel in." "But it's the second round, Buddy. And he's winning."
Ya, I just watched the Bute fight this morning, just go to ESPN3.com and go to the replay section. I don't think they archive it, but it is available for a few days.
Yes he did talk about Brinkley a lot, he also really wanted to make sure that everybody knew that he was a friend of his outside of the ring. He alluded to this over and over again.
From the start, The "Nasal" style is already making me want to hit the mute button.. :!: (But Sergio seems to know what he is talking about)
