He would likely do better numbers fighting Cotto however as a fan of both fighters I dont want to see Miguel Cotto hurt in that fight and think Martinez would just be too big for him

Geale on the other hand is a fellow Middleweight champion and if the fight was held in Austrailia he would do pretty well on PPV there not to mention gathering interest from American audiences as well as in Europe.

So yeah I think I do know what im talking about, Cotto can still get a hefty pay day from Canelo should he beat trout in a WBC/WBA bout without getting his skull pushed in

Gaele/Martinez in Australia? And how exactly would that benefit Sergio? HBO won't air it, HBO won't give him another tv date, WBC will more than likely strip him for unifying and the pay won't compare at all.
If no Cotto, Martinez best bet will be Jr again to school him once more.

Dude have you seen Boxing in Austrailia? they go nuts over any ozzie fighter with a belt, even if its the IBO

If HBO dont air it im sure Showtime will (they aired Tarver-Green) or better yet have Geale come over to the US to fight Sergio

As for this "WBC stripping for unifying" they said that about Amir Khan against Danny Garcia yet Garcia is fighting Morales for 2 belts and Andre Ward still holds the WBA/WBC belts also.

I'm going with cotto at 154.

In a strange way i feel he beats martinez but wold lose to alvarez.

Althoug i'm not too confident on these picks. Martinez could also quite posibly be able to stop cotto.

Martinez is looking for the money and at the moment only three options bring him what he wants. From the most to the least: Floyd, Cotto and Jr. I think Sergio will try to push for a Cotto/Floyd and if not successful we will see Martinez/Chavez 2.

I do prefer both Martinez and Jr go there sepetate ways as there is no need for a rematch and Martinez can fight Gaele next but in HBO. The is that it won't happen as like I said.......$$$$$$$

I think Canelo would also bring Martinez money.

This fight should be at 154. Will show Sergio could make the weight and make the Mayweather fight more of a possibility

be one of the very few fights where i'll be cheering both guys.... unfortunately i can see it been rather one sided and would rather not see cotto take another serious beatdown

At 160, I see no hop for Miguel but it would not be as easy as some fools here sees it.

Now, at 154 it would be

Cotto at 154lbs would do much better against Martinez than Chavez did. No need for a catchweight.

The biggest problem I see for Cotto though is not Martinez's movement, it's Martinez's very fast right hand, whether it be jab or hook. Cotto's movement and defense has improved, but I can't help but see Martinez peppering him with that shot all night long.

Some positives for Cotto in this matchup. Martinez does not have the best defense, he is very hittable, his reflexes are not on elite level, they are good, but not on elite level. Cotto's right hand has improved, which is always good against a southpaw. His left hand, jab and hook would be as important as Martinez's right hand if he is to have success. Cotto is pretty good at cutting the ring off, and he would need it against Martinez's lateral movement. This is were his left hand comes in, Martinez up against the ropes in his southpaw stance or square on...dig that left hook in followed by that improved right hand.

Martinez is not young, he looked great against Chavez, but he has sustained some injuries after that bout. The knee is the concerning one.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto was really competitive in this one. The main question is if Cotto can cope with Martinez's power. If he can, I give him a good shot.
