Sergio twists knee as he is knocked down and screams (video included)

was down in 3 of his last 4 fights, turning 40 and was coming off yet another knee injury going into the fight ...it's not disrespecting Cotto but saying he fought a fully healthy Martinez with no knee issues would be obvious bull****.

 

People knew all of that before hand and still expected Cotto to get beat down.

Most people are not saying Sergio was fully healthy it's just annoying that instead of giving Cotto props, people keep discrediting his win. It's not his fault Martinez wasn't 100%, he still deserves credit and the constant speculation that Sergio's knee was f#cked is doing Miguel a disservice IMO.

 

Go back and watch the Foreman fight, that's what a true knee injury reaggregation looks like (7th round), he does not hurt it on a fall, but on a bounce, that makes sense because he is putting even more weight than standing on his knee. He actually even falls right on the previously injured knee in the fourth, and gets up with no adverse effects from it.

I can actually only recall only one fall where Sergio knee may have took some impact, (2nd or 3rd fall) even then, it looked like his entire upper body landed first, in all other falls all his weight comes off the knee. It typically takes an extremely hard fall to injure your knee that way as you have the knee cap that does a great job at protecting your knee provided it doesn't break.

 

Right, no one calculated Martinez at 100% when they made their brutal stoppage of Cotto prediction. That's what this was all about, Cotto being able to compete with all his disadvantages in size with Sergio, some boxing advantage for him, and some wear and tear disadvantage for Sergio, they are calculated all that and still had Sergio winning easy, nothing but sour grapes their prediction came out flat wrong.
