atsch :rofl Let's start off by saying that Sergio Martinez has a contract with HBO, its a known FACT! Its also a know fact that Floyd has a contract with Showtime and also a known FACT that GBP fighters don't fight at HBO. So that rules out Canelo too. And to say that GGG brings in more money that Chavez :rofl :nut atsch is just plain laughable! A rematch between Martinez and Chavez will be on PPV, there is no way around that. A fight between GGG and Martinez is nothing more than a regular HBO fight. No matter how you try to paint it, GGG vs Martinez would not be PPV!! Neither have a big following to support a PPV event. We are talking about MONEY which is what makes a PPV not about which fight means more for Martinez. GGG vs Martinez is the better fight, no doubt, but just not PPV material.
:deal The only big "NAMES" on HBO are Chavez Jr, Bradley, Marquez, Pac and Martinez. Chavez Jr, a MW who is going to fight at a catchweight on his next fight, might not be back on MW anymore. Martinez vs Cotto at a catchweight of 156-157 IS a GOOD option for both, including HBO. But Cotto can also be looking at the winner of Marquez/Bradley or Pac/Rios. I think that is the reason he moved over to HBO/TR.
what is laughable is that chavez jr has had one ppv event (sergio) that did 475k. thats it. he did 1.6 mm views with andy lee and ggg has just come off 1mm against macklin. next fight, ggg does 1.2mm. now maybe you are the one in one hundred that wants to see a rematch between chavez jr and sergio, in which sergio won a one-sided UD, but the rest of the 99 percent of the people want to see ggg/sergio. its not ready right now because ggg is still gaining attention but once he knocks out another name opponent in novembere/december a ppv event could be ready for april/may. ffs, you had mosley/mora(100k) and cotto/mayorga(250k) ppv. now you still dont think sergio/ggg can do 250k? in fact, since you seem to know everything, how about we do a lifetime esb ban bet that ggg/sergio goes ppv if they fight in 2014? if not, stfu and take your emoticons and shove them up your as-s. since chavez/sergio only did 475k, where the anticipation was at its peak, who in their right mind would think that the rematch would do more? i mean, you would have to be somewhat ignorant to think that the rematch, which no one is asking for including chavez jr himself, would do more than the first fight. in fact, it might only do half. now, what about that lifetime esb ban bet sergio/ggg going ppv in 2014? yeah. thats what i thought.
A fight with Andy lee wouldtick those boxes.lee has a good namewithout being a killer both are with Di bella.
Expose?! Prime Sergio would absolutely school any version of GGG. This will be a passing of the torch moment because Sergio is quite a few years past it, but don't mistake it for exposing him.
Realistic world and not considering promotions, I'd like to see him in with Andy Lee, Hassan Ndam, Barker II, even Lemieux. Solid comeback fights next spring/early summer and fight again in the fall/winter. In a just world it would be Murray II, GGG, Geale, and Quillin in that order but it doesn't work that way unfortunately. Sergio has fought a good gauntlet of opponents so I give him a pass. Legitimate big injuries too. Not good for someone age and showing his regression.
a come back fight vs andy lee is a great idea. then after fight GGG or quillin... other 154's might be moved up as well
You really think I want the rematch? :nut I agree with you, it was a one sided beat down for the exception of that last 1 1/2 minute in the last round. But HBO will jump back to it and many CASUAL fans (which make for more than US hard core fans) to watch THAT rematch to see if Jr can finish where he left off. Or you really think HBO will put the rematch in regular scheduling? atsch And GGG vs Martinez on a PPV....pfft...and this is coming from a Martinez fan. Neither of those two have a big following, not even from casual fans, to support a PPV. Then you try to compare it to a Cotto/Mayorga PPV it might have done **** numbers but you have Cotto and Mayorga supporting the PPV, one KNOWN rising superstar at that time and one KNOWN boxer who had done PPV's before. If Martinez vs GGG happens (which is looking more like it will) it will be on regular HBO. Now with Chavez Jr possibly going to SMW there seems to be only Cotto as an obstacle for the Martinez vs GGG fight. But I am more inclined that Cotto is looking for a possible Marquez, Bradley, Rios, Pac fights more than a Martinez fight. So we will get our wish of GGG vs Martinez....just not on PPV. I am on for the bet but fu..ck that life time ban...anyone can just sign up with a diffrent screen name and email. Lets do it for 3 months if and when this fight happens. And lets up it up, 3 months if the fight is on PPV and 3 months that Martinez will beat the shi..t out of GGG! :deal A total of 6 months.
next two fights should be quillin and GGG, if he wins both hes undisputed middleweight champ, retires the best
the only way i will bet is a lifetime as im not going to "just sign up with a different screen name and email." trust me, both you and I get different treatment here from the mods because of our post count and duration here. take the lifetime bet if youre so sure because im pretty damn positive that ggg, coming off 1.1mm views against mackiln, will be ppv ready come mid-late 2014. and thats why ill do a lifetime esb ban bet and put my five years here on the line. now take the bet or stop using the emoticons and condescending rhetoric. if you havent noticed, esb is cleaning up this forum for the better by eliminating the trolls to try and win back serious boxing fans. by the way, when was the last time that there was a ppv rematch when the first fight had scores of 118-109, 118-109 and 117-110? because I cant think of a single time.
So because GGG is getting ratings of 1.2 mill views he is PPV worthy, while ignore the fact that it has to do with HBO subscribers. Just cause he has over a million views doesn't mean it will equate to that on PPV. If that were the case Nonito would be fighting already on PPV. Same with Ward vs Dawson fight, it should have been PPV. I am up for a bet, just not a lifetime ban.
Agreed. It's the biggest payday out there for both fighters, it's fan friendly, and if Sergio's not completely healed, Miguel may just pull the upset. Otherwise, Serg should take care of business and set up the GGG fight. Cotto promotes himself so a co-promotion with Dibella should make negotiations easy to set up. I'd be surprised if he went in any other direction if that fight's available TBH.
