- Antonio Margarito was 20-3 compared to Martinez's 16-0-1 (25 years old)
- The fight was held at Welterweight (147 pounds)
- Only a year later Margarito went onto win the WBO Welterweight belt
- Sergio Martinez only started boxing at the age of 20
- After Margarito's handwrap scandal who knows what fight he used loaded gloves in

Now lets look at the Sergio Martinez of today

- Since his fight with Kelly Pavlik, Martinez has grown into the weight ( he looked significantly smaller in Pavlik, Williams 1, Cintron )
- He has won his last 4 by way of KO
- He holds a hands down southpaw stance but moves to lure his opponents in and counter
- He has twice beaten Paul Williams (Who beat Margarito) once dropping a decision which i felt Martinez won and then avenging that by knocking williams the **** out!

 

Martinez and Williams both are/were 154/160 pounds fighters at that time Both were under 160 for that fight. Williams didn't get KOed because of the weight limit, he got KOed because he was leaving his chin hanging in the air.

When the first fight happen, martinez was moving up in weight while williams was actually had alittle more expereince at middleweight. Williams got koin the rematch cause he keep leaving his chin wide open.
