It genuinely sickens me how they've thrown him to the wolves in all these back to back wars for the ages against elite/top level opposition. That's five on the spin now all of which have gone the full 12 or 10 round distance and he's taken a disturbing amount punishment and clean head shots in all of them and all bar one against punchers. And he has either hit the canvas or been badly hurt in all of them too People either haven't seen or forget that the Culcay fight was a real war too and he was badly hurt in that one as well This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected And obviously last nights fight was a real grueling war for him where he took a lot of heavy head shots, had to dig really deep for the 5th time in a row, and was badly hurt and he had 435 amateur fights too I'm seriously concerned for his health. He's as tough as nails and an absolute warrior but he really needs protecting from himself This content is protected
After yesterdays loss to Adames Derevyanchenko needs to seriously consider hanging it up. Although he could make some decent paydays, he's been taking a lot of punishment lately and I'd hate to see him become fodder for up and comers.
If he'd been managed properly and not kept being thrown into war after war again and again, and as I've explained all bar one against savage/very hard punchers, he wouldn't have needed to keep taking year long breaks after them (after his last three fights) to recuperate and if not for such criminal matchmaking he would be sharper and fresher when he did fight too, especially when you factor in his age and ridiculously extensive amateur career. I think 200 amateur fights is too much, over 400 is downright crazy and even more so if you have a very aggressive style.
Allways liked him but he should retire he shouldnt be struggling with the likes of Adames. Time to hang them up "The Technician" it was a pleasure watching you fight.
Derevyanchenko really wants a title to cap off his career, he is so close he taste it. Im sure thats why he is taking all these tough fights, all three were close title fights against elite competition. If the titlist were a little weaker he would have a belt by now. He is in quite a dilemma.
Just watched it. I thought Adames looked good and boxed well. I'm not sure if it is a case of styles, but i thought that Derevyanchenko looked off or almost shot, although he may have been able to squeak out a draw or a close win if it was a 12 round fight. I no longer have the same confidence i had in Derev against the top dogs. He seemed about 60 to 65% max of his normal self. The fighter who fought Jacobs and GGG was far faster and could close the distance much better, even the Derev who Charlo beat. Maybe Derev should have taken a tune up,but i know he really wants a title.
Good call, in retrospect he did seem a little less than he had been in earlier fights and I'm thinking 3 years ago he'd have gotten Adames out of there.
I appreciate the warrior he is and for always taking on the tough fights when they presented themselves. Also I thought Chenko beat GGG.
Yup, thought he should got the decision against GGG. SD is/was a damn good fighter that took on some tough opponents with no apprehension. Wish him all the best matter what he decides to do.
