That's actually an interesting match-up - a total bull and matador affair, and one which Dzinziruk could win but not without some taxing moments.
BTW, I wouldn't be shocked if Mayorga upsets Dzinziruk, if Mayorga manages to come in peak shape (which is unlikely). Dzinziruk has had trouble with wild brawlers in the past.
This particular wild brawler also has a reputation for bugging the heck out of tidy, technical, and jab-reliant boxers.
The chances of this scenario are highly unlikely because Dzinziruk has a very solid chin. He doesn't usually stick it out in the air and let people tee off on it for entertainment like Mayorga. Joel Julio and Daniel Santos nailed him with their sunday punches and the guy didn't even blink so I doubt Mayorga has much of a puncher's chance. Look for a massive 12 round schooling from Sergiy.
I'm pretty optimistic and hopeful for a Dzinziruk win, because he still seems to have a good deal left physically based on the Dawson fight (and didn't seem rusty or anything). I like both fighters, and obviously it's better for the sport at this point if Dzinziruk can extend his undefeated record and land some big unification matches, but can see what Brickhaus means - Mayorga is a total hassle for technical boxers, good chin or no. Forrest had a very good set of whiskers himself - and while his jab wasn't in the same category as Dzinziruk's or Quartey's it was one of the better ones around in his day.
I fully expect Mayorga to land some nice shots during the course of the fight. However, I think Sergiy will shake them off and continue to embarrass Ricardo. He looked sharp as hell recently despite him being largely inactive. Dzinziruk has had major issues with his promoter which wasted a lot of his prime years. Fair or not the smart thing to do these days is to sign with either Arum or GBP if you want to get good fights. Signing with other promoters usually means sitting on the shelf waiting for a TV date.
That dirtbag Gary Shaw will furthur stall his career. He only signed him to keep him away from Angulo.
This. It's becoming more and more evident that the only reason Shaw signed him is to ensure his golden boy Angulo doesn't have to fight him and get embarrassed. and RING has him at #9 at 154 lol
I just watched a few videos of Dzinziruk's fights on youtube. Imo he can give any fighter hell in the 154 lb division with his jab alone. Needs to be showcased more on HBO, Showtime, ESPN, etc. more often.
atsch The one man who would absolutely beat him is Sergio Gabriel Martinez. I'd favor Sergiy over literally the rest of the division (with Cotto coming closest).
Huh? Angulo had an interim title. If he didn't want to face Dzinziruk he could just drop the title, which I believe he has done.
