    Right?

"Don't be surprised if you see Derevyanchenko in a world title bout soon - and he'll probably win it!"

Like, okay, he didn't look as shot as we feared but...relax. He's still turning 40 in a few months.

It's like they have no idea how old and ringworn he is and they're under orders to hype these fighters like crazy no matter what.

They were treating the overmatched tomato cans in the earlier fights like they were rated journeyman too!

Not sure where Derevyanchenko goes from here, honestly. He isn't nearly as high profile as he'd need to be for a Canelo payday. He's too high risk low reward for guys like Mbilli or Sheeraz. Best case scenario is probably a Charlo rematch but even that's dicey.

I think he should call out Brian Carlos Castaño, for a chance to avenge himself of their close WSB meeting in 2013. Loser retires (and winner isn't too long behind following him out the door tbh). It'd be fun.

Mbilli already dealt with Derevyanchenko and won clearly. Charlo even at this stage most likely repeats another solid beating on him as well. Castano seems like he’s retired from the sport. He hasn’t fought since losing to Jermell Charlo back in 2022.

Perhaps a fight with Erislandy Lara would be interesting.

@CST80 in his RBR had it just 96-94 to M'billi, and Derevyanchenko supposedly had an injured arm in that one? And still hurt M'billi?

From what I remembered Derevyanchenko had a hurt bicep and was a one armed fighter throughout the fight and was also on the verge of getting stopped but managed to survive. I still don’t think he’d be able to beat Mbilli even if he hadn’t gotten injured

Maybe a rematch with Munguia would be plausible, or perhaps a fight with Surace would be a more fitting farewell bout.

Pinoy gave Sergiy 3 and 4, The Professor gave him 4 and 7, while I gave him 3, 4, 5 and 7. Not sure why Pinoy didn't give him the 7th, it was the round he clearly hurt Mbilli in, around 10 minutes in in the clip below. Regardless of what @Flo_Raiden said, without the injured arm, I fully believe Sergiy would've beaten him, for long stretches in several rounds, he was managing to outbox him literally with one arm. Which were invalidated by Mbilli's sustained flurries, much of which were being caught on the arms of SD. It was one of those... holy ****! He has a bad arm, he's gonna get stopped! Type mindsets that possessed almost everyone that night, causing them to neglect just how well Derevyanchenko actually performed.

I remember giving SD 3 rounds at most. That 7th round was SD’s best round and it did look like he hurt Mbilli for a moment. It sucks that he was pretty much compromised by his hurt arm for the majority of the fight. He would have certainly won more rounds but even then the fight would still be very close and there’s just no way the judges would have given the fight to him unless he stopped him. By far the unluckiest fighter in boxing today. A shame that he couldn’t win his biggest fights and a world title when he had the chance.

Well, the act that he managed to hurt him, even with one bad arm, bodes well for Sergiy's chances of getting the stoppage. But yeah, of course, here's no chance of him getting a fair shake on the cards, in Canada and on ESPN.

It’s hard to know what could have likely happened had he managed to hurt Mbilli while still maintaining both of his arms but his chances of getting a fair stoppage would have been slim. I remember when he briefly hurt GGG with a body shot and looked like he had a chance but wasn’t able to follow up partly due to the referee getting in the way. SD has always been more of a volume puncher with no real one punch KO power. If only he had more concussive power to go with his style.

Well, there's also the whole thing about GGG being near indestructible, while Mbilli has been stunned plenty of times, the worst being against Gongora. He's a brutal KO waiting to happen, especially with that super reckless style of his. SD's power is decent against lower tier guys like Mbilli, it's the top tier guys he an' make a dent in..

Didn’t get to see him fight but it sounds like he did well and even got a stoppage.

@CST80 @IntentionalButt how did SD look overall and do you think he’s still good enough to be competitive with guys like Resendiz, Plant, Munguia or Surace?

I have no doubt that someone will eventually stop Mbilli at some point. I’d still pick the current version of Canelo to get the job done.

I missed it actually, I spent most of the day digging through my shed trying dislodge a ladder that I needed to get up on the roof and sweep it off. The leaves were starting to pile up too much, and that can create a mucky dam that can lead to the rotting of shingles. So I was ****ing exhausted when I came back in.
