Friday night, headlining a UFC FightPass card in Montebello, CA. On the line will be the WBC super welterweight Continental Americas title, Bohachuk's second defense of his second reign (first was 2019-2020). A bit surprisingly, they have no common opponents despite both having straddled occupancy in the 154 and 160lb divisions for several overlapping years. They have identical reach, while the Jamaican-Illinoisan gives up an inch of height and is seven years older than his Ukrainian-Californian adversary. IB Funfact: no Serhii Bohachuk fight to date has ever gone the distance (all 21 victories and the lone defeat coming by stoppage). Decent chance this becomes the first, as Gallimore has good but not murderous power of his own and fairly decent whiskers having only been halted once in his six losses.
Feeling even more confident about this going the distance after reading Ring's recent interview with Bohachuk and his trainer, where they discuss him "learning from the Brandon Adams loss" to adopt more of a cautious fighting style.
Well, i wouldn't put too much stock in that. Two months ago, in his last fight, Bohachuk went balls to the walls again against journeyman Aaron Coley and was hurt badly before Coley got too reckless and stopped. Bohachuk just not a very good fighter defensively but i still think he gets past Gallimore who is a bit shopworn imo and took a massive beating three months ago. He took a lot of damage in general over the last few years. And cutting down to 154 probably not the best idea at this point. I think he'll get stopped again. Maybe not one punch KO'd but TKO stoppage because of damage, exhaustion etc., maybe even a towel that comes in at some point. But it'll be sweaty. If Gallimore would be a bit less shopworn and a bigger puncher i think he could really cause Bohachuk a lot of problems. But he lacks that one punch power and more important he's not very explosive with his punches.
