Serhiy "The Professor" Fedchenko had a close fight with DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley (sandwiched in between the latter's challenges of the light welterweight twin titans of Argentina, Maidana and Matthysse). Some felt it was closer than the cards. Some felt Chop got robbed.

Kaizer Mabuza was able to escape the Ukraine with a majority decision, however. So the Prof. isn't all that protected. :think

Blain, a feather fisted Frenchman, was getting shut out on the cards against Lamont Peterson when he lost by seventh round TKO due to a hand injury on HBO a couple of years ago.

    Round 1

Fedchenko works his 1-2. Blain tries to push out his right jab to stem him off. Fedchenko keeps piling on right crosses behind his left jab. Tight boxing from out of the classic European guard while circling left by Fedchenko. Blain tries some wide slaps with his left. Blain is knocked down by a right thrown at the end of a combo as Blain was slapping his way in!! He beats the count. Fedchenko isn't in a hurry to finish, just tossing in the 1-2 with no increase in urgency.

    10-8 Fedchenko

    Round 2

Fedchenko circles to his right and lets his right hand go, trying to harpoon Blain from long range. Blain is shuffling in step with Fedchenko's circling (now in the other direction) and popping out a few right jabs to brush Fedchenko's forehead. Fedchenko uses some footwork to get far outside and slightly off to Blain's side. Blain keeps turning and trying to slap out with long left hands at the moving target. Fedchenko keeps moving back and laterally until finally creeping forward behind his guard to throw some accurate rights.

    20-17 Fedchenko

    Round 3

Fedchenko is balling himself up tight, his back arched and arms clustered to his face. Jabs, rights, and quick straight flurries are sent out as he turns Blain and met with scattered golf claps from the crowd. Blain keeps barking while thrusting his right jab and missing with Fedchenko using foot and head movement. Wild miss of a left by Blain as Fedchenko ducked back. More movement to the left and a jab to the body by Fedchenko. Counter right while Blain tries to jab at him. Blain has two lefts blocked. Fedchenko feints a bit, ducking halfway in with his right hand cocked and then pulling back. Just before the bell Fedchenko flurries.

    30-26 Fedchenko

    Round 4

Fedchenko ducks some right jabs and hovers there in a squat on the outside. Now Fedchenko waddles in and jabs at the body before moving off to the side. Fedchenko isn't giving Blain any easy targets, far or near. Fedchenko puts a jab into Blain's gloves to distract him and then swoops in with a pair of vicious right uppercuts, landing well. Another good uppercut by Fedchenko and Blain ties up. Long straight lefts by Blain, doubled up but too slow. Fedchenko just turns his body aside and lets Blain miss, catching him in a clinch as Blain's feet can't skid to a halt. GOOD right jab by Blain, caught Fedchenko loading up on something that he never got a chance to throw and snapped his head back. (but the follow-up left cross missed as Fedchenko thought quickly to duck). Fedchenko dances and turns each shoulder back on the outside. Blain misses a jab and a wild looping left.

    40-35 Fedchenko

    Round 5

Fedchenko dances back and measures out with his right hand. Blain lunges and pops him with a straight left to the face. Fedchenko circles left with some slight in-and-out movement, skidding along on the sides of his feet. A few jabs from Fedchenko. Blain barks, slaps, and misses. Fedchenko lands jabs through the gloves and occasionally flurries to rouse the mostly silent crowd into claps and sparse cheers.

50-44 Fedchenko, but the rounds are getting closer as his work rate drops and Blain starts connecting.

:huh I don't think that's true. (but just in case it is, don't post a spoiler to prove a point).

I've had their Boxrec pages up this whole time and up until now there's no result up; and this is supposedly live on Ukrainian TV right now.

It's 12:24am local time - which is kind of late for a main event but not implausibly late. :think

Again - don't bother proving me wrong in case I am. :D
