Ask Zab really? Yeah, Zab lost, but he damn well won about the 4 beginning rounds handily!
Martinez is bigger, stronger, and the man has great endurance. He didn't do much in the middle rounds, but that's because Pavlik found him out, used his height, etc. Then Martinez showed his heart, determination, and his Smarts (by changing up his plan midgame much like Mayweather does), and beat the **** out of Pavlik!
Also Martinez is a few inches taller so IMO if Martinez can counter Williams/ Pavlik with there gynormous size difference then Mayweather would seem like fighting a damn midget.

Don't be ridiculous. We all know there's no way on Earth this fight would ever happen. Ever.

How do you expect Sergio to score against mayweather? He couldn't do that run stop and pop stratagy he would have to throw combinations to try and pick a spot and that one two only was effective on pavlik and Williams because all three of them were looking for the same combo and Martinez was simply faster. How is Martinez going to defend against mays straight right? He gets hit as much as he hits. Just because he beat a robot like pav doesn't equate to a victory over the best boxer on the planet.

I knew it was only a matter of time before this poll came about. I wouldn't want to put any money on this fight. This is not an easy fight either way. Martinez isn't a pure boxer. He's really athletic and very unorthodox and has some flaws that he's able to get away with because he's athletic. Floyd's still the best defensive fighter in the game and it wouldn't be a fight that I think Martinez could take his usual midround nap.

Not really sure what to make of this post. I would trust Floyd at 154(really, he came in at 150) but that was NOT a decent version of ODLH. He was well past it by then, he had allegedly been worked over by Ivan Calderon in sparring and admitted in his blog to being worked over by "lightweights" in sparring. Are you just saying he was decent because he had some success early against Mayweather?:huh

Also, Zab had some serious success early against Mayweather. Of course, Zab's not a briliant fighter so Mayweather figured him out quickly.

    Shambe...way passed it.

Martinez does simply rely to much on slight head movement with no hands as his defense. However, saying he's too easy to hit because Paul Williams got to him is a misnomer. Paul wasn't accurate per se...he just throws so many damn punches a lot are bound to land. Winky Wright is a brilliant defensive fighter and Paul destroyed him just by swamping with punches.

Don't think Mayweather would get a TKO, but anything's possible I guess.

+1, might be interesting to bump this thread in a couple weeks. Although, it is worth noting that Mosley and Martinez fight nothing alike.

Faster, bigger, and more aggressive is bad news for Floyd.

If he loses to SSM, it only reinforces this theory (and certainly would leave little doubt that SGM as well.)

Martinez by TKO or KO. Void is void, esp. against Martinez.
