We all saw his corner enter the ring clearly after the round had ended but in the middle of the ref doing the 8 count.

Was the disqualification mandatory or was it up to the ref's discretion?

Ref's discretion, I'm 99% sure. Obviously, as it has happened many times before and the results were whatever the ref's discretion at the time was.

it was all on the ref. he is a ****ing dumbass. yes, its one of the many rules in the fight. but its meant for those who climb in the ring during a round as if to start some trouble or cause a scene...the guy jumped in the ring simply to put the stool down because his fighter has just been knocked down...
its like a cop who busts every speeder for doing 1 MPH over the speed limit while giving the maximum fine....

What confuses the hell out of me is that the ref didn't immediately DQ him but ushered the cornerman back out of the ring and continued counting.

That was the main reason I asked this. If the rule is mandatory then there was no need to continue the count he simply should have just waved off the fight right there.

Gayle Van Hoy, had Kirkland up. This judge needs to be seriously looked into. To Many questionable cards.

I've seen it back a few times...I don't think he realised the bell went...I don't think Kirkland did either...

The corner also had their part to play.

Was a joke of a decision TBH. He carried on the count after pushing the corner man out but then DQ'd him WTF

I think the ref has no intention to DQ Team Molina at first then ring officials (and some GBP boys) at the table called his attention for the rule infraction.

At least they should have given some consideration for Molina because he's actually winning the fight..

Well I guess, they don't want Molina to spoil the Alvarez-Kirkland fight..

I'm sure HBO and GBP all let out a huge collective sigh of relief at this horrible decision. **** Kirkland, the ref and GBP. Kirkland is just months away from getting locked up again, and hopefully for good. Boxing has enough braindead scumbags without corrupt officials owned by corrupt promoters (who own the most corrupt network that airs boxing) propping them up.

Wish I'd called it a night after the NBC Sports card.

"Act like this guy got yo kids and your gunna kill em." Anne Wolfe's always hilarious, at least.
