The ref did not have a choice. That rule is not open to interpetation or discretion, it is hard an fast. If the corner goes up on the ring apron during the round, fight is over period. It was Team Molina's responsibilty to pay attention. Kirkland's team did not make that mistake. And the ref contiuing the count doesn't change anything either. Nor does the corner leaving the ring...damage done. Once the corner stepped onto the ring apron the fight was over period. :dealRef couldn't change it, the commission couldn't change it, judges couldn't change it. Mistake made....hopefully lesson learned.
Bell rang as he went down, you're right. Atrocious call on the ref's part for stopping it after he used common sense to finish the count, cornerman took one a half second of their time, really. A couple people getting agitated at the officials table, ref comes back and DQ's Molina. As Kellerman says, that one and half second interference (a natural reaction to the bell on stool boy's part) is technically wrong, however considering the big picture it's a terrible call. If Mayweather was the only corner to enter the ring that might have applied but Because both corners entered the ring, as well as many others...This fell into the category of fight being suspended due to issues outside of the boxer's actions...see If the bout is unexpectedly stopped under suspicious circumstances all or part of the following actions may take place: if a boxer and or their corner is involved, the offending boxer may be DISQUALIFIED the boxers purses may be withheld until a formal hearing takes place any participant may be monetarily fined and or administratively disciplined the matter may be referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency
If you want to bring up the letter of the law...bring it up properly At no point was there interference, they didn't help their man.
At least someone knows what they saw....the ref sucked but don't blame him for everything. The ref pushed the cornerman out of the ring, he had no intention of DQ'ing.. Rudy Hernandez knew what was up and made a scene that got Molina DQ'd. Some of the posters in this thread are as stupid as that cornerman.
Molina is like the guy who would pick M. Bison in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and just spam the Psycho Crusher move over and over to get a win. Cheap, a little cowardly, but within the rules.
The bell rang and he obviously wasn't looking at the action. Also there are state commission officials in every corner making sure the corner men get in and out of the ring at the right time. They didn't do there job so why the dq when the corner man was just doing his? The ref even pushes him and says "are you ****in kidding me" then ran to the side of the ring with the rest of Texas' crooked commission officials and decided to rob Molina, Kirkland anddddd us.
It was not a great moment for boxing but rules are rules the corner should have known better i hate it as much as you guys do but the guy did go in the ring though it was bizarre he didnt do it right away i actually thought he was stopping it for a TKO initially
Unjustified stoppage. Most likely, the DQ will be overturned and ruled a No Contest, with an immediate rematch. Gayle needs to be suspended from judging, except for poodle beauty contests. Neither man looked impressive. Canelo, Martinez, Cotto and lots of others would make short work of either of these guys.
You guys are funny. Your guy loses and their is some big conspiracy. HIS CORNER MAN ENTERED THE RING. End of ****ing story. DQ. Move on, I doubt it affected your life that much. Blame the corner man, don't blame the ref. God ESB is so full of pussies now a days. Keith
