Serious question.. are there some roids only detectable through blood?

    See now ths is the part that has got me kinda confused. Are they looking for HGH or are they looking for the downstream hormones produced by HGH. Because in medicine if you want to test for Elevated levels of HGH you test the IGF-1 levels because it is not as transient as GH. I'd assume that blood drug testing would do the same but from everything that I've been reading it seems like they are actually looking for HGH itself which is kinda ludicrous given that it has a half like of 2-4 hours and an abnormal amount would only show supraphysiological levels for 18-20 hours at most.
