Silva probably could've kept fighting without surgery but when forced to face Sonnen again, choose to undergo the knife........... not a bad ploy to mess with Sonnens head and build up a potential block buster in the summer.

Personally I believe Silva is a little worried about Sonnen but will fight him eventually........... Unless Munoz gets a victory over Sonnen

    :deal and i cant wait!!..

sonnen should get on his knees every day and pray to an anderson silva shrine that this has dragged on this long and given him a bit more time in the sun.
Im currently nursing the same injury silva had in their fight and i cant tell you how debilitating it is. sitting up is a chore that has to be done slowly. i now know why he looked so placid on his back and it had nothing to do with sonnen. Its because he couldnt ****ing move without sharp stabbing pain and the fear of further injury interrupting his thoughts with every movement. i still cant believe he fought like this.
when a fresh and fit silva finally gets hold of sonnen its ganna look like chael has walked through a blender and everyone will wonder what all the fuss was about

So you had a rib injury and it debilitated you, huh? Well, elite-level athletes have blown ACLs and LCLs, the former of which I can attest to, and to the average person it's an injury that leaves one incapable of movement whatsover. To the elite-level athlete it is but a painful, I repeat VERY painful, hindrance. For starters, I doubt that Silva had any sort of rib injury given his confidence in the early goings and the fact that Sonnen didn't do anything to him that no one expected a wrestler to be able to do. Secondly, it doesn't matter what sort of injury he had, Silva can't wrestle his way out of a wet paper sack and Sonnen is a world-level wrestler. So, regardless of whether you like him or not, he's probably going to wrestle your hero to the mat and control him while rubbing elbows in his face.

Helluva way to lose the belt, eh?:rofl:patsch

How exactly is Silva avoiding him? :huh

By remaining in the same division as him, as champion, knowing he'll have to fight him again someday soon, and beating the dog**** out of everyone else while he waits for Sonnen to earn another title shot???

    Fail.

Sonnen managed to grind Silva early due to the takedowns he got via his surprisingly successful striking. I doubt he'd win the stand up game twice vs Anderson, therefore getting the takedowns should be much harder giving Silva some time to actually do some damage.

Sonnen is probably Silva's worse nightmare at MW but he's nothing he can't handle imo. Also as it was mentionned before, I certainly wouldn't be thrilled to rematch a guy that was juiced in the first fight and risk the title to a disrespectful cheat. :nut

Silva has beaten him once, and he was on ROIDS.

Silva is the champion and he would be doing Sonnen a favour by allowing him the fight and Sonnen has done anything but act like a complete ****, why should Silva give him the satisfaction of the payday?

Sonnen should grow up and maybe if the champ decides to throw the once beaten challenger a bone he should be happy and not call Silva names.
